Really looking forward to seeing this match up.

Yakupov should fit in great with Gagner and Hemskey.

Canucks lack a game breaker like Tarasenko in STL. They might win the Cup in the next year to two with help from this kid. MG should explore trading Schneider to EDM for Yakupov.

Not sure EDM would do it but if Luongo is willing to stay MG should at least put in a call to the Oilers. They won't do it for Lu so MG should offer CS.

Eager vs Volpatti anyone?

I'm surprised that Weise didn't go out there and pick a fight at some point last night. It could have turned things around, me thinks...

Weise isn't that spectacular of a fighter. I would've rather Volpatti did

Everyone's so worried about our goaltender tonight and you are forgeting it's only dubnyk in net for the oilers. This guy is still fairly unproven and hasn't faced the pressure of being a real playoff contender until this year. In all likeliness, this will be a high scoring affair, but that doesn't mean we will come out on the losing end of it. Nucks win 6-5.

RNH will record 7 hat-tricks in a 24-3 Oilers win.

Or the Canucks will actually play defense. The latter seems a tad more likely.

I for one think this will be a relatively low-scoring affair. Canucks got lucky with some of those goals last night.

While they did make improvements to their D, it's still not even close to ours. We will have to be ready for the speed and creativity of their young forwards, however, and it'd probably help to play some better defence this time as well.

Now please? Give Sterling and Schroeder a shot

Sterling isn't our property and we aren't going to sign yet another small forward when we currently have two available. Nevermind he's a wing as well, when we have plenty of those. If we really wanted to pick up another forward, we would have pursued Gomez, looked at Connelly, or tried to bring something back in a Luongo deal already.

A lot of people seem to be predicting goals by Zack Kassian.

You're aware that he didn't have a single shot on net last night, right? Baby steps.

Mark my words, these kids have been playing all lockout in the AHL, and come tonight, they'll have shown how much it's been worth it. We're going to get absolutely dominated.

Last night's performance notwithstanding, you don't win back-to-back Presidents Trophies getting 'absolutely dominated' by AHL players as you say.

True, it wasn't as bad on the scoreboard, but Det/LA/Phi all lost openers last night as well. Not panic time yet, not even close - calm down everyone.

I'm not buying all of the 'hype' around the Oilers until they actually prove something in the NHL, that's right, the NHL - not the AHL. Last I checked the Oilers farm team isn't even in the AHL playoffs even with all this so called 'elite' talent they had all season down there, that's saying a lot.

Looking forward to a 4-2 Van win, righting the ship, and moving forward.

I felt sutton (not really a fighter either) handled volpatti.....

Eager is cheap, usually jumps guys, and is very strong.....he rag dolled bieksa.....I'd rather volpatti spare his shoulder.

Vandy should be dressed and know his role.

Volpatti, with all do respect as willing, got one lucky punch on Winchester and now he's Gino?

Well, if nothing more, last night's game should ensure that the guys come out ready, fully grasping the urgency in the small window here (not that they didn't already). Season starts now. Can hardly wait for the game, woo.
