The NHL is a fixed old boys club. I've come to acceptance with that and just watch for entertainment. The 2011 & 2012 Canucks are champs in my books. Go Canucks Go!

I wanted to see Vandermeer start tonight.... I want an Eager beatdown, hopefully Volpatti beats that meat head.

I have a bad feeling about tonight. The Canucks are always slow starters, and that's with a full training camp. Shut down the twins, and the Canucks are doomed. 5-2 Oilers.

you know who else is slow??? Ebbet. You know who's pretty fast??? Schredder. You know who else is fast??? Basically the oilers top 9. this is going to be am embarrassing game.

Luongo on getting start against Oilers: "I didn't know what was going to happen and I would have been fine with it either way."

Luongo on Oilers who had 12 players in minors and Europe during lockout: "There's no rust in their system. We've got make sure we're sharp."

More Luongo on Oilers: "We can't just go through the motions, we've got to make their lives difficult tonight."

Canucks will continue to struggle in the early part of the season. Oilers are too fast and in-game shape, they take this one.

Not to be a pessimist but I expect a difficult season for them. The problems are evident, they need to get faster, younger and more skilled.

Andrew Ebbett is going to further prove that he has no place in an NHL top six as he repeatedly loses the puck, and makes horrible passes.

I think the Oilers will win, but I think the Canucks will play better tonight. Aside from that "second line".

so how can a guy watch this game?

also i would like to see the nucks start the next few games focusing on solid defence don't worry about having the defence jump up into the play keep them back and in control then slowly start getting them involved in the play.

According to the guide on shaw it's on SNETP and SNPHD

The killer of the Canucks is going to be the Oilers pp. Their pp is all high powered offense and Canucks pk was crap last nite.

Solution: Need to be very discipline. Luongo is going to have to be sharp.

The Sedins have the ability to slow the game down. The Oilers have had big time trouble with them for their entire careers.

Oil will swarm us but he will stand on his head, nucks will win 4-2

All those panicking children from last night will settle down

It's confirmed, LUONGO starting

Lol edmontons going to destroy us, especially with their speed.

My lineup would of been

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Raymond-Lapierre-Kassian
Higgins-Ebbett-Hansen
Volpatti-Pinnizzotto-Weise

I would seriously consider putting in JS for this game. He don't have size but the Oilers aren't big either, he has got speed and more offensive ability than Ebbett. All around he is an upgrade from Ebbett.

MG better make a move on Luongo soon cause this is turning into a crap show already. I can't believe all the negativity towards Schneider... Its 1 ???? game... a regular season game to boot. The only reason Luongo is going to be traded and the negativity towards the guy is his playoff meltdowns.. Plain and simple. Those thinking Luongo is going to stay here? Are you for real or did u forget your meds.. for christ sakes. its done.

I see the Oilers winning this game unless the coaching staff changes the strategy that has not been changed for about 3 years now......other teams know that speed and aggressive play on the puck in all 3 zones exposes the weaknesses in the Canucks system.

If the Canucks do not turn this ship around and gain some urgency from the coaching staff on out, then AV and Bowness need to be replaced with someone who can use this shortened season to get a new system and new motivation in place for next year.

I saw AV on after hours last night and when asked what he said to the guys after such a tough loss his response was he didn't even talk to them........I don't care how much of a veteran team you have, after that the coach needs to say something especially when his favourites like Hamhuis and Bieksa were absolutely brutal.

Hamhuis and Bieksa will get 24-25 minutes tonight (after actually earning a demotion to the 3rd pairing with their play).......that is why this team will never win anything. The coach is too stuck and unwilling to ever try something new or punish his favorites. Hamhuis and Bieksa look like they believe their (CDC) press that they are the next coming of Bobby Orr. Play shutdown defence like you used to....forget trying to be 50 point guys.......

The transition from our own end has been a problem since they allowed Ehrhoff to walk. And will continue to be.

every coach in the nhl would say nothing after the loss last night because nothing needs to be said when every aspect of the game was garbage by the canucks and i doubt you will see a coaching change in a short season

Watch Bowness somehow mess up Tampa Bay's already amazing 2 powerplay units...he'll probably tell Stamkos to do drop passes from centre ice, take him out from the faceoff dot, and place him infront of the goalie

lol no the fans are the crap show. We all knew this was going to happen, same fans who b!tched at fans for being on Luongo's side are now doing the same for Schnieder. Luongo is probably gone but untill he is, Schnieder is still not absolute number 1. I think Schnieder ain't gonna last here long either and we are going to lose both.

Now it's our turn to spoil Yak and Schultz in their debut.

No drop passes on the PP
Fix the PK
D needs to tighten up
Ebbett needs to leave
Stellar goaltending

We do this, and we're 1-1-0.

I say just play the Goalie that is hot. If Lou does well, start him next game, when he tanks, start Schneider the following game, and so on. It's great to have two high Calibre Goalies!
