I thought about that actually. Not sure if it would work. I love the song, and obviously it would need to be edited for the arena.

EDIT: Prepare to be slated by all of the pro rock and roll posters claiming that it isn't upbeat enough.

I agree its a bit long for an intro. You might have to cut the start by about a minute, but when it kicks in it is really uplifting and quite powerful imo.

In fact, I'd argue that (if I was going to choose an M83 song) Steve McQueen works better. With the team hitting the ice at 0:53.

I can see that getting me pumped up. Not sure about everyone else.

I think we can agree the entrance song should be m83, can't go wrong with any song in this thread and there's another 5 m83 tracks I could get behind. My pick would probably be the last 2 minutes of m83- Intro.

What does everyone have against an electric guitar or 2, a base, and a drum set with a singer that has a actual song to sing with lyrics that you can recognize as english.

We need something timeless, you think this Techno Crap is Timeless?

Hell No!! its the current metropolitan trend.
In five years it will be dead and some other pansy in skin tight pants will play some other ear damaging junk at all the clubs

Timeless is Rock and Roll, survey says rock in roll is more hockey than any of this crap on this page.

I don't think you know what techno means. Look it up. I also don't think you listened to all of the songs posted on this page. I don't think the song in the OP would work, but other songs of theirs might.

You could make the argument that "Where the streets have no name" is timeless, but you seem to be pretty against that. Also, are you capable of going a post without insulting someone? "Go pluck your eyebrows and sit in a tanning bed"... really?

Off you go and shave your mullet, tough guy,

I don't really care for ACDC personally but this ain't about what we like personally its about everyone.

I like gothic metal, I would love to have a gothic metal intro but 99.9% of people don't like it and that's cool with me.

Just because DJ Dave and a few metro douchebags in Vancouver style there hair to techno in the morning before going to work at Starbucks means we all have to live with it.

It's sure got the crowd going

Hahaha

Agreed. But that's only for the video in-arena.. After that though, he goes with Finale by Madeon, which I don't mind but I still love the U2 opening.

For all the people saying that the lyrics "I want to run, I want to hide" is too feline, have you ever been to a game at Rogers Arena? You'll know that DJ Dave plays the instrumental version of it and none of the lyrics are played whatsoever so get your facts straight. It's all about getting the crowd into the game with an upbeat or music that gives you goosebumps and nervous every time the game starts

The songs listed are great songs, I like them all. For an into to a hockey game though? Sorry, in spite of being good listening tunes while I'm cleaning my apartment they're a little soft.

This DJ Shadow track is a bit of a compromise to the "Rock Folks" and "Electronica Folks". Little more up beat and would sound great cranked up with a bit longer into to the song and an arena edit of some kind.

Oh god no. And the Vancouver Canucks facebook update with their new song was brutal.

I'm also in favour of Rock and Roll music.

Our arena caters to 16 year olds enough as it is with the crappy "Call me Maybe" songs during intermission/between whistles *shudder*

These songs you've posted are okay, but something that will amp up the crowd in the arena would be better suited I argue.

Our intro is something that's been synonymous with the Canucks for a while now, why the hell change it? On a team that's gone through multiple uniform changes and identity crises, don't we want some tradition?

Keep U2.

The Canucks' Facebook page is open to comments about the new song. Looks like it's running at about 2% positive vs 98% negative, on the new opening song. So congrats on the epic fail.

Some are quite content with the U2. Those who are not, almost universally want it to be something heavier.

So it's either U2 or something ballsier. Not sure who's bright idea it was to desecrate the season opener with rave music.
