TimberWolf
If Ehrhoff was a Canuck and Garrison wasn't CDC's consensus would be Ehrhoff>Garrison. Since Garrison is a Canuck it's obvious the consensus on the board is Garrison>Ehrhoff
Ghostsof1915
One factor in Garrison's favor. He can play defense.
Bossy
YOU WISH Garrison was as skilled with the puck as Ehrhoff. Garrison has a good shot and decent vision with slightly better defense than Ehrhoff, but he's more physical. However, in the offensive zone it isn't even CLOSE, Ehrhoff moves through the zone a lot smoother, see's opening better and knows when to drop into the slot. His shot is more accurate and he's a far better passer, and for a defenseman his wristshot is killer. He's one of the best in the world on the power play, Garrsion isn't on his level in that regard. Darkstar
Not really. If we based it off last season then you would be hard pressed to find someone except a die hard Erohoff fan to believe that.

Ugli Fruit
You would have found people saying that Garrison was better in his own end and Erhoff was better in theirs.
nuck nit
Vancouver has Bieksa,Hamhuis ,Garrison,Alberts and Tanev that all play a defensive game for the most part. Only Eddy can be described as a talented, offensively producing d man on this team. Vancouver could use an Ehrhoff.Oh,yeah,we already let him go. UMB
Till Garrison plays well consistently and consistently puts up points, for me it will ALWAYS be Ehrhoff > Garrison. Ehrhoff one of my favorite defensemen in the league even though he clearly isn't one of the best in the league. I loved him when he was in Vancouver and wish we had re-signed him. Master Mind
Way too early to tell how Garrison's play style is going to be throughout his time as a Canuck. Give it time, then make comparisons if you wish. As of right now, Ehrhoff was better for us.

Markus Alexander Cody
Yes..... except Ehrhoff hits the net. Garrison missed all his shots tonight..
elvis15
Or, they're nothing alike. Ehrhoff: Solid wrister, smooth skater, offensive specialist. Garrison: big slapshot, physical player, excellent defender. That sounds totally different to me.
Ugli Fruit
Keeping Ehrhoff would have been nice, but unless we were going to sign him to a 10 year deal (which would have made everyone here go nuts), then his cap hit really might have hurt us. Canuck919191
Ehrhoff was great for us... he was our best D-man the two years he was here. People just remember him having an awful series vs. Boston and their final memories are defining him (even though every Canuck sucked in that series). Can't expect people on CDC to know any better, though.
Master Mind
His cap hit probably wouldn't have been much higher than Garrison's.
elvis15
Ehrhoff has just as big of a slapshot as Garrison, if not "bigger". Have you seen how deadly his slappers can be? Just as accurate as his wrister. I'd honesty say both D-men have similar skating skills, but yes Ehrhoff is the faster of the two. Garrison is more physical, I mentioned this already, but Garrison has not shown any evidence that he is an "excellent" defender. He's been quite average. He was partially to blame on the 2nd Edm goal. If anything Garrison is a rougher version of Ehrhoff, but that's really the biggest difference I could make. nuck nit
Gillis offered the same deal as they offered Bieksa. With other offers on the table for perhaps more security in term and dollars he did what he felt was best. Ehrhoff played injured in the Boston series.
