Captain-Canuck2562
Don't get me wrong I'm happy with our d core this year but how nice would this kid look in our line up. I just wish Gillis was just more aggressive and pulled out all stops to get this kid. It angers me know watching a BC boy playing for a division rival. Especially one as talented as Schultz. wallstreetamigo
How do you know MG didn't go all out to get him and the kid just chose to sign with a team full of guys his own age that are going to be pretty damn good in a few years over an older veteran team that has a set top 4 already? wallstreetamigo
Plus, if he was a Canuck and didn't get 5 points in his first game CDC would have been calling for Gillis to trade him......
wallstreetamigo
Maybe he knew he wouldn't get 21 minutes of ice time with almost 4 min on the PP if he was with Van.....or maybe he wanted to be on a team that will let him play his style of game not like he would get to in VAN. Dayman
It was ultimately his choice, and he chose EDM. Can we just move on? It's just as bad as bringing up the Hodgson trade.
butters
I can see why lots of BC born players would actually want to stay away from here. Usual CDC response "ya, but if they have heart then they will want to win it in front of blah blah blah". Maybe so, but it might not be worth the abuse if they don't win it all, which will be the case most years.
Markus Alexander Cody
I honestly didn't notice Schultz at all tonight. Aside from a couple of offensive chances, he really didn't catch my attention on anything.
Smashian Kassian
He looked average at best today, his weakness is physicality, He seemed to get overwhelmed at times down low. I liked Tanev's game better than his tonight.
GoaltenderInterference
The only thing about Justin Schultz that caught my eye today was that he wasn't wearing a typical d-man number. O.o
UFCanuck
The only thing that caught my eye about Schultz were his Patrick Kane mouth-guard habits.
DownUndaCanuck
Pretty average game today, and the way he jumps up in the rush all the time is going to cost this Oilers team eventually - they don't have a good enough defence or goalie to let him roam like that. Plus, if we did sign him MG wouldn't have gone and gotten Garrison, so we would have only had 1 proper shutdown D man (Hamhuis) which is disgusting. Our defence makes enough mistakes as it is. Schultz may end up being a great defenceman, but he's way too overated right now. The Sedins cycled on him quite a bit today and he is clearly not physical enough for the NHL, he couldn't get the puck off them. Meanwhile Nick Shultz came in, laid the body and ended the twins cycle eventually.
