DownUndaCanuck
So guys, we all know that Vancouver are infamous for their slow starts, and lots of people worry that we won't be able to afford a slow start with this shortened season. Here's a bit of optimism for you guys. On January the 22nd of 2012 we had played 48 games last season and here were the standings to that point in the West: Detroit - 65 pts Vancouver - 62 pts San Jose - 57 pts (45 games played) St Louis - 64 pts (47 games) Chicago - 64 pts (49 games) Nashville - 60 pts Los Angeles - 56 pts (49 games) Colorado - 54 pts (49 games) ----- Minnesota - 53 pts Calgary - 52 pts (49 games) Dallas - 50 pts (47 games) Phoenix - 50pts (49 games) Anaheim - 41 pts (46 games) Edmonton - 38 pts (47 games) Columbus - 32 pts (47 games) We started last season playing around .500 hockey for the first month before going on a tear to almost take the West, and we can obviously do it again. 48 games is not too little for the Canucks to heat up and catch up in the conference so don't worry about this slow start, it's characteristic and the good teams will rise to the top by the end of the season, even if it is only 48 games. Markus Alexander Cody
One thing for certain.. Detroit won't be at the top of the conference by the end of the season. They might make the playoffs but Detroit won't be up there.
Primus099
I hope they aren't the same after 48 games this season, don't want the Kings first round again also i seriously doubt we will be the only NW team in the playoffs this year
Wheels22
That's a good sign.. If we beat Calgary, we'll be 1-1-1.. Not that bad considering we're still shaking the rust off
Fateless
Obviously we can still do well. Its been 2 games.
Westcoasting
Completely different then a regular season, every other team knows it is only 48 games too. There is not a lot of time this season to suck and fall behind.

DeNiro
Completely different landscape this season. And with Kesler being out, those wins won't come as easy. Although the Canucks have typically been slow starters. So I wouldn't worry too much about the first two games. In 2010-11 we went 1-2-1 to start the season. Once this team finds its groove though they have the ability to roll through the wins.
Ossi Vaananen
Different year, Edmonton and Minnesota are better teams, making the NW that much more difficult to take. Detroit is looking worse with the loss of Lidstrom, so that leaves Nashville or St.Louis taking the central division. Pacific should go to the Kings, though it looks like the Ducks are the team of 06/07. It's still early in the season but the Western conference always gets a shake up come playoff time. CanuckCup1316
Untill we get Booth and Kesler back we need to play a way more defensive first style game. If our goalies are half as good as everyone say they are then if we played more defensive we would be miseralbe to play agaisnt.

Understand
Why do people just automatically expect the Coilers and the Wilds will be better? Is it just becuause they were so bad in the previous years that they can't get any worse?? We don't have to worry about these traditional bottem feeders, we just need to make sure we keep pace with the likes of the Sharks, Wings etc. Some teams like the Wilds added some players, yes, but so did we. Don't just give credit or resepct to other teams easily, after all, we are the back to back President Trophy winner, the best team in the leage for many years.
