Heretic
I think this is a very good point and should be talked about. The Canucks are not going to win a Cup with the Sedins at the helm. They put up numbers during the reg season but disappear into the ether come playoffs when it really matters. Champions step up in big games under pressure...the Sedins shut down. Opposing teams toy with them. Now's the time to trade them too while they still have some value. We need some big, skilled Canadian bodies in those positions. apollo
I'm tired of this crap. Tired of the "Sedins disappear in the playoffs". Stats don't lie, as far as points go: Henrik: 74 in 99 playoff games. 792 in 940 regular games. Only a 10% difference. Daniel: 67 in 96 playoff games. 758 in 906 regular games. Only a 15% difference. Sorry, you are all wrong - they don't "disappear"...10-15% difference isn't "disappearing". By comparison, Crosby has 13% lower production, Ovechkin 17% and Thorton 23%. S.Mouse!
These guys look like they are very tired. You can just see it from their faces. Given the propensity for Swedes to retire early, I wouldn't be surprised if they are out when their contracts are over. I think this is the 4th year in their 5-year contracts. Perhaps you could sign them to another 2 year deal worth 6mil each, but I don't know if they will have the legs to keep up with the pace by then. The team should be built to win now. With Weiss, Volpatti, Ebbett etc., it doesn't look like they have a truly competitive team. They need some toughness with skills (think of somebody like Kirk Maltby). Alex Burrows 14
Weiss? The Florida Panther who is about to become a UFA? Or did you mean Weise? And Volpatti? The dude we waived last season who was claimed by Washington? Smoke more weed before posting, seriously.

Where's Wellwood
There's no reason the Twins can't take less money and be solid 2nd liners on this team later in their career similar to Selanne.

canucksnihilist
really tough one. they peaked at 29-30. usually a player has a good 5 years after they peak before they no resemble their usual selves. Most players peak around 26 or 27, making 31 or 32 the last year they can truly be close to the same player. So... they can probably last to 34 or 35 before tailing off by that logic. But lots of exceptions both ways. I don't see them as the same players they were 2 years ago, but I don't think it is wrong to expect another 2-3 years of top play from them. Henrik seems better than Daniel at this point?
