His back is fully recovered now. It's to be expected that he's playing better. Nice to see.

He has more than impressed me if comparing to last season over the first 4 games excluding our first one against Anaheim, but that game was terrible anyways for everyone on the team.

I've never once hated on Raymond, I've felt bad for the kid since he's had times of struggle, and I'm rooting for him 100% of the way this season like everyone else should as well.

I'm noticing that Raymond seems a lot stronger on his legs, his stability has improved from what I saw last year. I like the sudden stops and starts and him being more explosive; not falling down all the time.

Also, he's keeping his head up and while he's a bit slow to make the right decision with the puck, I think he'll get back to being the player he was 2 years ago.

Of note, during his break-out season, Raymond had one of the best corsi ratings in the NHL. Last year, one of the worst.

Anyway, all this to say is that Raymond can be an very effective player, and I don't understand all the hate by some of the "fans" on this site.

-Jagori

P.S.

It bothers me the negativity by some on these boards. I remember the constant trashing Rypien got all the time on these boards. Oh, he is useless, etc. etc. Doesn't belong in the line-up, etc. etc. These players dedicate their lives to entertain us, and sacrifice alot. We all know they get paid well, but when you are under a microscope and give up a "regular" life for hockey, there has to be quite a toll mentally.

Have to agree with you, he really is looking like the player we hoped he was. I hope just for his sake he can get to where he was, he's taken enough physically, from the fans etc.

He isn't falling down, seems to be in better control and is going to the hard spots. His goals have both been amazing. Perhaps his training in the offseason focussed alot on core and leg strength as well as his back (core for sure, which likely is helping his balance alot).

Great to see him start so positively, for the nucks and him.

As for our fans, there is fairness in being critical but hammering guys when they are down, serves no purpose. I was always for Schnieds but not "ANTI- Lou" thats being a fan...still want all players to be successful..

He has a way about him where he can use his speed to look like the only player on the ice. We saw it briefly when he came back from injury last year, it faded as time went on. The dude has game though.

Remember when Demitra first came here? How he went out of his way to say how impressive Raymond was? How he thought he could score 30 goals in this league?

Remember how good Raymond was that year?

Support your players.

I believe the biggest concern of Management this season is Booth vs. Raymond vs Higgins. We only need to keep 1 or two of them after this season as Jensen will probably suit up next season. Higgins will most likely sign at a discount for job security but the real competition will be booth vs Raymond for 2LW position.

I actually think his skating still blows, and his decision-making is still a little off. The difference right now is that he has finish, I remember him not being able to finish off plays so many times last year.

Booth has only one thing one Raymond, size. Thats it. Raymond is a much better defender, which really matters if you are not contributing on the offensive end. When Booth isnt scoring, he really brings nothing. He cant kill penalties, he cant (or doesnt pass) isnt that physical for someone his size, and has a penchant for injury.

And as I write this Raymond scores again. What more do you need to say, maybe good night haters

Raymond has been much better this year, the rest helped and he's motivated for a new contract.
I hope he keeps filling the net and raises his trade value above bag of pucks.

His skating blows?! He is easily the Canucks best skater...and when he fully healthy, one of the fastest in the league. He would have at least 4 assists so far if people would finish his passes.

Last year when playing with Kesler and Booth, it was always the same thing. Each of them would move into the zone and try to do it all themselves, no passing, no chemistry, they were terrible. Raymond has his strength back, is fully healthy and prepared fitness wise for the first time in 2 seasons, and his confidence is back.

You can see how hard he has worked. His core strength, skating, his shot is ridiculous, even his passing has been very good.

Glad to see his confidence back. Getting some ice time with Booth and Kesler out. Same with Kass.
