lumberman
As per Cam Cole, 2/3rd's down in the article, take it for what it's worth. Iain MacIntyre @imacVanSun I suppose that URL for Cam's interview with Gillis would make the tweet more helpful. http://tinyurl.com/bs2epap

Lui's Knob
“We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have — and it’s not who anybody thinks it is — and so we have to wait. (But) we’ve been offered packages that don’t fit what our plan is, what we need,” said Gillis." This. Wonder who he could be talking about? Situation69
Hey Canuck Fans, Deal In Place For Luongo As the rumor mill continues to swirl over a possible trade, Canucks GM Mike Gillis revealed to the Vancouver Sun there is a deal in place to ship Luongo out of town. "We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have -- and it's not who anybody thinks it is -- and so we have to wait," Gillis told the paper. Gillis explained that Luongo's no-trade clause and the recent lockout were factors in not moving the veteran goalie already, Injuries to center Ryan Kesler and right wing David Booth might have played a factor in recent trade negotiations, but while the Canucks have received plenty of offers for Luongo, they usually include pieces the team is not interested in. "We've been offered packages that don't fit what our plan is, what we need," Gillis said. "Excess salary coming back with a [throw-in] player who can't play in our lineup. They say, 'OK, we'll do this, but you've got to take this.' Well, we're not taking it. We've had lots of proposals like that with good pieces that can help us but the other part doesn't help us, and oftentimes they have term attached to them, so we'd just be turning around and buying out a guy." The Toronto Maple Leafs have been most linked to trading for Luongo, with the main pieces believed to be center Tyler Bozak and winger Nikolai Kulemin, while young forwards Nazem Kadri, Matt Frattin and Tyler Biggs have also been linked. If the current deal for Luongo falls through, Gillis could keep his goaltending duo for the shortened season. "We have a really good player here who brings a tremendous amount to the team, his professionalism, his willingness to work -- he's the kind of player that changes the culture on a team and shows players what it means to be an elite-level player," Gillis said In 55 games with the Canucks last season, Luongo registered a .919 save percentage and 2.41 goals-against average.
