Kassian plays well, Schroeder gets recalled, and King of the ES gets banned all in a matter of days :bigblush:

Schroeder Raymond and burrows could put up some points. Give Kass a full game with the twins

The whole reason to putting Lapierre on the third line over ebbett is so we can have some skill and sand paper on both the third and fourth lines, so when we play the bigger teams we will where them out starting with keslers line then making them deal with lapierres line and then with weises line. There is no question in my mind that the definition of a third line center is to be someone who can score hit and fight and thankefully for us Max Lapierre who will be a Canuck for the years to come is that person, and its time we develop him the way Carbo did and thats y giving him third line duties this season. After all he is a 2nd round pick.

Good, now I hope he scores 2 goals, otherwise he's back in the AHL right after the game.

Doesn't really matter if he plays good, look at what AV did with Shirokov when he played good.

A part of me secretly hopes he gets sent down after the first game, just so CDC can have another meltdown. The other part of me is screaming "YAY JORDAN SCHROEDER!!!!1!!" because I'm a JS fanboy.

What a very insightful argument.

Anyways, I actually feel the positions regarding Ebbett, Lapierre, and Malhotra are somewhat interchangeable. Ebbett was not suited for a 2nd line role, but I feel he could do well on the 3rd line. But then again, Lapierre would also fair well on the 3rd line. So one has to ask who would be on the fourth line? I think that position is much more suited for Lapierre due to the energy and sandpaper he can bring to the table. I don't know about you, but Volpatti-Lapierre-Weise sounds way better than Volpatti-Ebbett-Weise. That's why I have Ebbett over Lapierre. Then there's also Malhotra.. it's hard to determine whether Ebbett or Manny played better than the other, because both were pretty awful to watch. Malhotra is a faceoff specialist, but is that alone enough reason to keep him in the lineup?

Energy and sandpaper belong on the 3rd line.

W/e Ebbett does deserves the least ice time possible.

I hope he stays at least till Feb 7th. That would mean he's doing good enough to be on the roster a few weeks... and he'll possibly play against the Wild and I can watch him on TV.

After all these years of suffering without a chance to watch live games, or even full games for that matter, I can now watch every single NHL game live for about 20$ /month and most in HD - I do feel privileged.

In other news, great that they called him up. I was certain that they would at some point. But after the two "pre-season" games with Ebbett on the 2nd, it became obvious they would pull the trigger on this move with him and Vandermeer...

Practice lines:

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Raymond - Schroeder - Weise
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Burrows - Malholtra - Volpatti

Can't wait to watch his NHL debut! Time for him to get a chance in the big league!

Sounds to me like he never left Van. They claimed he was "too ill to fly" to Chicago after being cut by the Canucks for opening night. So he's been in Van this whole time, just not practicing with the Canucks. I think they knew all along that he'd be on the roster in no time

I think it's safer to put your money on a first round draft pick than a fourth line plug.. :)

Then again... that Hodgson Jersey of mine....

Energy and sandpaper belong on the 3rd line.

W/e Ebbett does deserves the least ice time possible.

1st line: primary scoring.
2nd line: secondary scoring.
3rd line: checking line.
4th line: energy line.

That's how I see it anyways, but obviously it's not absolute considering the 3rd line could provide 'secondary scoring'.

Perfect time for him to step up and show us what he's got.

Actually, the time for him to step up and show what he's got - was two years ago in Chicago.

I could definitely see Grabner going. He seems to have done his best to play his way out the door (and Gillis seems to be the smartest GM we've ever had, so, put two and two together)...

Tsn was saying Burrows will play center for the first time in his career tomorrow night. Not sure who his line mates will be tho.

Cause when Gillis said that this team wouldn't have time to experiment, I'm sure this is what he meant...

He never left... as he wasn't 'feeling well' enough to fly

*wink* *wink*

I assume the Canucks didn't want to fly him to Chicago and then back in the course of a weekend.

Tell me how it makes sense that we have 5 centers on the roster right now, yet it makes more sense playing Burrows as a center.

I guess if it pays off, AV is a genious. If not, he's gonna look pretty bad.

Yeah, the lines coming out of practice are confusing to me too. Some other teams have been shuffling lines after some early losses but I would have thought keeping the lines very similar apart from the change of Schroeder for Ebbett (and maybe swapping Kassian and Burrows) would be ideal to allow the lines to build chemistry.

Certainly, I wouldn't pick Raymond and Weise as Schroeder's best wingers to have a chance at success, so it seems like that's a pieced together 3rd line.

The only thing i can think of would be AV is hoping a line of Higgins-Burrows-Hansen can put up secondary scoring to take of some pressure from the Sedins. Although Schroeder is an offensive center, you can't rely on him to produce right away.

Defensive zone draws are limited to Malholtra/Lapierre I guess, but they're both on the 4th line. Maybe the twins will have more d-zone starts?

Don't understand why there is talk about his size, etc. Yeah he is a center, but can easily be converted to wing and moreover is very strong on his skates. If Raymond can play in the NHL (back injury and all) Jordan should atleast be given a chance. From the shootout stuff I watched, he has similar stuff to Cody Hodgson, is much stronger on his skates and has way more speed to him; I say the only area Cody had him in is maybe a non-one time slap shot (Cody's was pretty lethal off the wing). So considering all that, idk why the guy wasn't the obvious choice to fill in when really our whole second line vanished? (Raymond doesnt count imo).

In any case I'm very excited to see him play I hope he does well!

He hasn't played particularly well on the wing when tried there in the AHL, but it was a fairly small sample size. He works better as a center, and would likely play there over other choices (LaBate and Gaunce have been playing on the wing this year for instance).

Schroeder is more than likely replacing Ebbett, and not Malhotra. They were battling it out all camp for that 2nd line centre spot, did everybody forget this?

AV certainly did...;)
