@sportsnetmurph: VAN lines - Twins-Kassian / raymond-Schroeder-Weise / higgins-burrows-hansen / lapierre-malhotra-volpatti

OddThe 3rd line is way better then the 2nd line and is Burr playing centre?. Why not Burrows-Schroeder-Hansen for the 2nd? Or Raymond-Schroder-Burrows. Guess they want the defensive guys on the 3rd line.

I think Weise on a line with Schroeder and Raymond is just to have that physical presence, because those two guys are so tiny

At least this will quell some of the CDC hate.

I'm glad to see Schroeder get a shot, he very much deserves it.

He deserves it based on what?

I hope Schroeder does well.....he has alot of Canuck fandom riding on his play.

Would it ever be possible for him to live up to expectations considering his size and limited experience?

Expectations on Schroeder are so high, it may be impossible to live up to the standards of Canuck fans.

Be realistic, and give this kid a chance. He's going to be good player, given the chance and proper time to develop.

But yeah, he does need better finishers. Raymond...maybe. But Weise? He's no finisher. lol.

Why not keep Burr with Sedins since they have chemistry.

Kass (the physical presence) with Schroeder and Raymond?

Then you have the third line with Hansen, Lappy and Higgins.

I think those lines are pretty good. in a short season, don't wanna mess with chemistry (like sedins and burr).

Liking that 2nd pp unit! and I'm stoked AV's finally come to his senses and is leaving Kass with the twins. I enjoy watching the nucks a lot more when there are young players on it. Last year was Hodgson this year Kass and JS.

Can't wait for next year though - Kassian, Schroeder, Jensen, and maybe Corrado, Gaunce, Connauton even make the team with the cap going down so much.

something like

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Booth-Kesler-Jensen
Burrows-Schroeder-Hansen

...it may be impossible to live up to the standards of Canuck fans.

This statement is said so often, it's become a Canuck cliche. But is it true?

Honestly, I don't know of many true Canucks fans that have 'impossibly high' standards for our players. But i supposed idiots posing as Canucks fans could. Maybe these idiots posing as Canucks fans are reponsible for the riot as well as having impossibly high standards, but true Canuck fans? Not sure. But this is CDC. During the season, the idiot/true fan ratio goes up quite a bit.

This could be the start of something big, he has been playing well, as far as I can tell from the radio broadcasts here in New Zealand. Hope he has a great game v Calgary.

Schroeder to put out the Flames!!

He's been developed the Detroit way.

3 1/2 years before his first NHL game.

Good luck for the Schroe in his first gig in the big show.
Ebbett needed better finishers and gets paid half what Jordan does.
He has to perform and his size, inexperience and weight are all factors that go against him.

Just for a bit of perspective.... what does everyone think Schroeder's upside is?

HIGH
Steve Sullivan?
Cliff Ronning?
Kyle Wellwood?
Craig Adams?
Mike Zigomanis?
Harold Druken?
LOW.

Total guess but I would say Wellwood/Adams level. Wouldn't high be St. Louis or Paul Kariya or is no one that optimistic?

Like the idea that Schroeder is getting a chance as he looked pretty good from the games I saw on Sportsnet.

Hate the fact that we are waiving the only legit tough guy on the Canucks. Just heard on Team 1040 where Pierre LeBrun was talking about how the Sabres addressed toughness issue on their team by acquiring Scott and Ott. How this creates a different playing environment for the team where players play with more confidence. How Gillies doesn't get this is beyond me, it's a basic psychological advantage for teammates to know there is a player on their team that will take care of business when needed. So how did the two games go on the weekend?

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Higgins-Burrows-Hansen
Raymond-Schroeder-Wiese
Vandermeer-LaPierre-Volpatti

will be nice when Booth and Kesler return and midgets Raymond and Schroeder can go back to Chicago, Manny can coach face-offs

This looks good and will be even better with the return piece(s) from Luongo deal. need someone that can finish and that is 6"2 + 215lbs w/mean streak.

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Booth-Kesler-Burrows
Higgins-LaPierre-Hansen
Vandermeer-Pinizzotto-Volpatti -Wiese (3of4)

Edler-Garrison
Hamhuis-Bieksa
Tanev-Barker

Schneider
Luongo

In a perfect world that player would be Scott Hartnell but that won't happen anytime soon.

If Kassian pans out, which I believe he will, this could be huge. Still, I'd probably go something like this, until Booth or Kesler return:

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen
Burrows-Lapierre-Higgins
Weise-Malhotra-Volpatti

Weise played a great game on the 4th line, why screw with something that works? If anything, slot him on the 3rd and shift Higgins to center and Lapierre to the 4th.

Or this, to keep our 3rd line intact:

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Raymond-Schroeder-Burrows
Higgins-Lapierre-Hanse
Weise-Malhotra-Volpatti

or to reward Weise:

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Raymond-Schroeder-Burrows
Weise-Higgins-Hansen
Malhotra-Lappierre-Volpatti

Raymond and Schroder are low end 2nd liners as is...putting Weise up there doesn't make much sense to me.

That's a formidable team if you ask me. The talent is so spread out that it gives even the Dale Weise's of the team a chance to shine.

I'm excited.

So how did the two games go on the weekend?

they didn't lose because of lack of toughness if that's what you are trying to say...
