#Isles Nino Niederreiter's camp is seeking a trade from the Islanders, a source tells ESPNNY. Unhappy with current situation

Certainly going to be our #1 defensemen. Give him a couple more years to improve his game and he'll be our new and improved version of Matthias Ohlund in no time

Hmm. Can't say I'm surprised. They rushed him in the first place, basically ruined his development...and now guys like Martin and Ullstrom are getting more of an opportunity than him. Get 'er done, MG! ;)

He scored 36 points in 39 games with Bridgeport. Pretty solid numbers in AHL thus far. Also a former top 5 pick. The guy is goinng to be good in the NHL but the Islanders want him to wait a year and he has said nope. That is basically it

I don't see Gillis biting on this one. I can't see what we would give up. If Nino was really stubborn we might be able to get him for Gaunce and a 1st but unlikely.

One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

I wouldn't mind nabbing Boyes.. Josh Bailey would be a huge risk but right now we need the help down C.

It's interesting but doubtful, sucks the Islanders rushed him. You think they would have learned from the way they ruined Josh Bailey, I guess not though. although Nino isn't ruined yet, but it still didn't help.

I know a lot of people are saying Neidereiter is ruined. The kid is a 20 year old who is averaging almost point per game in the AHL. Far from ruined

Niederreiter is a pure goal scorer. Something this team is lackng.

If we could add him to the mix for a reasonable price, it would be awesome.

Him and Jensen would be the makings of a very sweet future line.

Can't see us trading Gaunce, He's a centre and big........ we're lacking both on our team.

They didn't even invite him to camp? What is Snow thinking.

He'll probably hold onto this kid even though he wants out, and frustrate him till he's forced to go play over in Europe.

The Islanders just continue to screw up their 20+ year rebuild.

I don't see it. He has all the skills of an elite sniper, along with a great work ethic.

If a player like this becomes available while their value is relatively low, you jump all over it.

He's gonna be a star.

Clearly. It's always pretty easy to tell who actually goes to junior and AHL games by the way they assess young players. It's almost always over-sold or under-respected.

Nino will be the type of player a team will need to win when he hits his prime. He'll play in every international tournament for the rest of his career, and probably Captain them, and is solid in every area. You can build a line around a young player like this. Probably not a superstar but a star. His skill set is very Linden-esque.

Maybe Lou, Ballard for DiPietro, Nino, Bailey, Visnovsky?

He wants out of NY because he is not happy i wonder what he would say if he played under Vignaults watchfull eye. Hodgson v2.

I think the Nucks have a slightly better development system than the NYI.........and he would better leaders around him to help him adjust. I don't know anyone in the Isles organization anymore, but it just screams cluster**** to me.

Johnny Gaudreau>any Casucks

Edler, Markstrom, Hansen, 2nd round pick 2014 to Islanders for Ryan Strome, 5th overall pick 2014

This is fairly even as well.

I agree with you on the cluster but if he doesnt play the way Vignault wants him to play he will be in the minors in a NY second.

The Islanders are such a terrible organization.
Hire a real GM not a back-up goalie with little to no management experience.

The amount of top players they could and have drafted in the past 15 years, they should be icing all-star teams by now.

coming out of POrtland, I never heard any bad reports about his attitude from anyone. I think he would be fine in Van, and the myth about AV and young players is ridiculous

I do not think we possess the bargaining chips that it would require for us to get a player like Nino - or at least not pieces we are prepared to part with without damaging our "core". Not like its's going to be Raymond, Ballard + 2nd...
