And people here claim guys like Niederreiter and Barker are washed up. Talk about having to get his crap together on the last opportunity for Gomez. If this goes south for him, he won't be getting a contract in the summer...

He's referring to the proposals by people in the Luongo thread that San Jose will be looking to move one of their top centers (they have Marleau and Pavelski playing wing currently) now that they have Gomez in return for improved goaltending. Niemi's been ok in my estimation, but certainly not great, and they have Greiss as the backup.

I don't see it, just like the people proposing Washington, but who knows what other deals could be made to make it more plausible.

Added the news that Tim Kennedy has also signed with San Jose for a one year deal.

San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed forward Tim Kennedy to a one-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This season with Worcester, Kennedy leads the team in scoring with 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) and a +5 in 31 games. He was selected to the 2013 AHL Eastern Conference All-Star Team but has missed the last nine regular season games due to injury. He was also named the AHL Player of the Week (ending Dec. 2) after scoring five goals and boasting a +5 ranking in three games

Last season, Kennedy posted two points (one goal, one assist) in 27 games for the Florida Panthers. In 53 games for the San Antonio Rampage and the Worcester Sharks, he logged 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists) and 44 penalty minutes. He finished the season third on the team in points and tied for second in assists.

During 112 career NHL games, Kennedy has recorded 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) and 54 penalty minutes.

Kennedy was acquired from Florida on Jan. 26, 2012 in exchange for Sean Sullivan.

The five-foot-ten, 175-pound native of Buffalo, New York was originally selected by Washington in the sixth round (181st overall) in the 2005 NHL Draft.
