      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

[Discussion] Roberto Luongo Trade Thread 5.0

Recommended Posts

Actually, I'd think that Malhotra would fit the bill as a playoff rental kind of guy, and I wouldn't be surprised to see another team which thinks it can go deep in the playoffs paying to get him, assuming the Canucks decided to move him.

There are a number of teams which are well below the cap ceiling, who are looking like they will make the playoffs. They could absorb Malhotra's contract easily.

G.

What would we get in return? a 3rd :) which we ll keep and throw our own third into the Lu deal to sweeten it a bit to get Bjugstad :)

Bjugstad is too young and not skilled enough. It would be a risk to trade for Bjugstad.

I would try aiming for Kessel, if he continues to play unproductively. We may be able to use him for 2nd or 3rd line.

Honestly I think he would be a good fit as well, we need to add offense, he would instantly have one of the best shots on this team. But we could also add some size and prospects of the blue chip variety.

For sure...

What can we get from TO for sure?

What can we get from Florida for sure?

etc, etc...

The thing is, with Luongo having a spectacular start to the season, his value will definitely appreciate. I would think he can be traded for much more than a guy such as Bjugstad and an average pick.

The most honest answer to your question(s) is: who knows? I haven't heard any GM say that he offered a particular package. We have heard a lot of supposition and rumor.

My best guess is that we are seeking a big and tough young blueliner, a big 3rd line centre and a back-up goalie. If he cam squeeze a pick too he'll take it, of course. Something like Matthias, Ellerby, Clemmensen and a 2nd for Lou and another smallish piece. If it differs much more than this in shape and player molds I'll be pretty surprised but, on the other hand, MG has always surprised me before.

If the Canucks are going after Matthias and Ellerby I still think they should target a player with a higher ceiling. Matthias fills a roll on the third line, and Ellerby adds depth on D, but they dont offer much more than that going forward. Even if Bjugstad and Gudbranson are off the table Drew Shore, Alex Petrovic, or Quinton Howden would be a nice piece to add in.

Matthias, Ellerby, and Shore/Petrovic/Howden looks a lot better to me than Matthias, Ellerby, Clemmensen, and a second.

We could figure out the back up roll in a seperate trade.

However, since we don't know each other and your situation is an unknown, what choice would we have except to slot anything you say as more rumor? :)

Cory Schneider 2-2-0, 3.13 GAA, .897 SV%

No one gives a flying **** about last year's stats anymore, right?

After 2.6 million posts of Luongo has no value and should be traded for warm pooh and a roll of sock tape or Luongo is the greatest and should be traded for Crosby, Malkin, Letang and a 1st...

What is the consensus on the Canucks actual needs?

A backup is a must. A very good prospect, probably a first line center with size is needed. A player that can contribute right now has to be included.

Given the present lineup when healthy GMMG is looking for a very solid big body, gritty forward, a top center prospect and back up goalie.

Respectfully, I do not believe the Canucks are looking at defensemen, impending UFA's, average small body forwards or any other spare parts.

you could slot it as complete BS :) (and rightfully so). however do you think we could get a top 6 and a great prospect for Lu? or Lu +?
