      BOARD SPECIFIC RULES   02/05/2016

These are board specific rules, meant to try to make the Trades and Free Agent Signings forum better for everyone. YOU MUST READ AND ABIDE BY THESE FORUM RULES.

      1. If an event happens, wait a few minutes before posting, in all likelihood, someone has already posted it. We don't want numerous threads on the same event, so please search before posting.

      2. Please provide a clearly identifiable topic title for your thread so that user's can search for and find the appropriate thread easily. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate. This is to help avoid duplicate threads and to make searching easier. For any and all comments, please use the Topic Description box instead of the title.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriately label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].

      3. All trades, signings, rumours and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread.

The following are NOT considered valid sources: Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Hockeybuzz, Spector's Hockey and The Fourth Period are currently acceptable sources.

The NHL Line, Brochu is Hockey and NHL Hockey News by saint Pako are currently invalid sources.

      4. Clearly misrepresenting the contents of your thread or posting false Trades/Signings/Acquisitions to send the forum into a frenzy will be taken very seriously and will result in an automatic suspension.

      5. Please put all proposals into the proposals forum and NOT this forum. Proposals found in this forum will be moved or deleted without warning.

      6. Please report any threads or messages that violate these or other board rules to the administrators or moderators() Do not respond by posting spammy messages such as 'IBTL', and 'LOCK AND BAN', or by attacking other users. The report button is located to the bottom left of every post.

Thank you for your co-operation and please PM one of the Moderators or Administrators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

[Discussion] Roberto Luongo Trade Thread 5.0

3,021 posts in this topic

Manny's game has deteriorated rapidly since his injury, regardless of whether it still affects him or not. I like Manny and loved what he brought to the rink, but he just isn't effective outside the faceoff dot anymore, and with the new rules about not using you hand to win draws, that aspect of his game may be on the way down too.

Cute, you felt the need to make the distinction. Your post count is starting to make sense.

Ignorant comment OV.

May have looked "fine" in your opinion in a game agains Pittsburgh. Brain injuries, obviously not that simple.

"TSN’s Darren Dreger is reporting that the move is just so Gardiner can adjust to the speed of the game. It’s not that Gardiner played poorly upon his return, but he definitely didn’t look like his normal self."

No one seems to agree with me, but he is better than the player he was last year. He is still a great faceoff specialist, aswell as a great PKer.

I've spent enough time and posts addressing this, so we will all just wait and see if he is better (than last year) mid-way through the year.

Why hasn't Gardiner being assigned to the Marlies seen more discussion?

I can't figure out why Gardiner would be sent down, he's a stud d-man, arguably in their top 2. I'm thinking something is going on here.

Gardiner was fine in the game against Pitsburgh. You'd think Toronto media would have blown up if he was actually injured.

The Caps are losing again tonight in NJ.

Screws must be tightening a bit more on McPhee.

He is still capable of being a good 4th liner who is can be a great defensive specialist.

He is far better conditioning and health wise than last year, he said his eye is almost just as good as before, it's no issue and unlike last year where he didn't get any time to train, he has had a summer of training, and wont be a step behind everyone throughout the entire year like last season, give the guy some time he will show his defensive skills. He probably won't be the 10/11 Manny, but once he knocks off the rust and gets going I could easily seem him as a great defensive 4th line center.

Randy Carlyle said it was for a short conditioning stint as he'd been off for a while with the concussion. Said he'll be back very quickly.

Still ignorant.

And your little snipe about my post count - yes, I've made nearly twice as many as you, but I've been on here more than twice as long as you have - so apparently you post with more frequency - if you have a problem with the quality of my posts, by all means, lead by example.

The Canucks would have to lose a couple more LWs to injury before Tambellini would start to even make remote sense.

But word is Neuvirth has been solid tonight, just because a team is losing it doesn't mean it's the goalie's fault. That's how we got in this situation to begin with!

KatieStrangESPN

#NJD Really good period so far for Michal Neuvirth. Guess Oates made the right decision in going back to him tonight

And you can't fault him for the 2-0 goal when it's on a 5 on 3:

KatieStrangESPN

#NJD Devils convert on the 5-on-3 to make it 2-0. Elias puts back Zidlicky's rebound for a PPG

Tambellini can play both wings. The fact that we have Weise as a third line winger shows that we don't have as much depth at wing as we thought.

Tambellini has shown that he can play as a top 6 in short stints, Ebbett hasn't. That's why he would be much more valuable to us right now.

Plus his ability in the shootout could end up winning us some games down the road.

Yea, thanks could had used you earlier.

Even if Toronto did make Gardiner available in a possible Luongo deal, we wouldn't necessarily need another LH D-man. I mean Ballard could of course be moved or bought out, but making Gardiner the centre piece while we are lacking in secondary scoring becomes counter intuitive. Anyways, I already wrote a lengthy post on why a TOR deal wouldn't work. Might as well continue the WAS speculation.

I do think the Caps need a character change who knows what that would need but they need a lineup shakeup and get some warriors and leaders alongside Ovechkin
