All the oilers talk is rediculous. I'm not cool with sending him there for anything less than Yakupov. They can keep the big 3 but if we're sending him to a division rival, yak better be coming back.

Not a chance. Why would they trade their first overall pick for LOU

and why would MG trade him to a team they will see 6-8 times a year? His point was, if MG were to do that Tambellini better make it worth his while.

And why would Gillis, and Dave Gagner, go after Sam now when he'll be an UFA on July 1st, 2015 (if it's still 7-or-27 under the new CBA)? They could get him for free at that point and you know that Sam's dad is recommending the one year deal approach until he becomes an UFA at the tender age of 25. Gagner saw what Gillis did with Cammalleri's career and I suspect this could be very similar.

Then there's the obvious questions like, where do the Canucks stick Gagner when Kesler & Booth get back? How long till Schroeder demands a trade after seeing the Canucks fill his role with management's own son? Why flush down the toilet something that is not yet considered an asset of much value in Schroeder instead of building it up with Ozone starts that hopefully leads to production and then trading it in a year and a half when Gagner is an UFA?

Philly makes a lot of sense if they're offering Talbot, a 1st round pick and some intriguing prospect that the Canucks want. Washington and Laich also makes sense. Gillis wants a gritty 3rd line centre that's happy in that role but can also put up a 20g 40pt pace if they're needed to fill in for an injured Kesler in the top six.

Kassian.... Taylor Pyatt 3.0

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

Botchford is not once ounce funny or an reliable source for good sports information.

I agree, not a fan of his at all, still not sure why he is the Canucks expert on That's Hockey, it would be nice for them to pick someone better.

I would do a

Sam Gagner, MSP, Khabibhulin

for

Luongo, Connauton

I wouldn't, would rather Kadri, Bozak, 2nd from Toronto.

Not a chance. Why would they trade their first overall pick for LOU

They won't, but why would we trade Luongo to them for anything less?

Ok, my turn for an Oilers proposal:

EDM
Luongo
Raymond (he's always a throw-in in my proposals)
Barker (contract throw-in)

VAN
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson
Teemu Hartikainen (I like this kid A LOT)
Jeff Petry (big, right handed d-man)
Yann Danis (Backup for Cory)

We aren't taking any of their huge young stars, nor do I think they're available. We get a banger and shoot out specialist in Hartikainen, we get a big centre in MPS, and another young right handed d-man in Petry. I think the deal is big enough, that even as a divisional opponent we could consider it.

I'd rather just hang on to Luongo if that's all we can get for him...And why would we trade Barker after we just signed him?

I agree with thad on anything less than Yakupov is a no-go.

I'm pretty sure Edmonton would be on Luongo's short no trade list. Edmonton has the ugliest city and worst climate in North America along with being the furthest away from Florida. Their team still sucks so don't see it being a viable destination for Luongo.

I think a trade with Edmonton is a long shot.

They would have to overpay big time, which would be good for us.. But doubtful that they allow that to happen.

I have no doubt they've kicked the tires, and maybe even put together an offer.. But unless one of their young stars comes this way, I can't see MG even considering this kind if trade to a division rival.

This part of your post sounds exactly like Jason Botchford, makes Booth jokes all the time and it is getting incredibly old.

McGuire aside, TSN are so hard up for talent that they feature Botchford in two of television's most contrived, just plain lame minutes - ironically called "Studs and Duds". Botchford poses as a guy who knows something about hockey, attempting to take shots at people who are actually talented, who merit what they do for a living. It's a sad-ass act, but it seems to be his only move - overcompensation.

They should just stick to broadcasting games and highlight shows - the rest of the filler is more and more irrelevant.

Inter-conference trade 'okay' and team nobody is expecting also adds to my Anaheim gut feeling.

The oilers didn't re-sign Barker for a reason, he has negative value to them. Toss in Prabh Rai if you want a contract dumped.

Who's Reilly?

And Hiller to Toronto for Reimer + ______ (Biggs?) + a pick

And Luongo & Raymond to Anaheim for Ryan + one of their centres, is not that implausible.

Because he's an all star goalie that will give these kids a Chi/Pit chance at a cup over the next 6-7 years.

I never said they would, I said if they want him they have to cough up yak or no goalie from us.

It's not a question of why would they. We aren't the ones persuing the player, they are. If they want an all star from a division rival, it's going to cost one of those 4 young stars.

That's the bottom line, non negotiable below one of those 4. It makes it almost impossible to deal with them but were just fine not having him go to Edmonton.

frack trading luongo for anything less than an equitable player.

guess what? the winner of most trades is the team that gets the best player. If we trade Lu for a bunch of crapheads, guess what?

we can get a bona-fide star in return, or a bunch of up and coming stars...

Seems Washington can't rely on Neuvirth or Holtby right now.. 3 quick ones from the Habs.

I think Washington made a few huge mistakes in the last two offseasons...

First unloading Varlomov (albeit for a pretty good return), than trading away Vokoun. :sadno:

Not sure he would, but the rumours are that the list he 'will not' go to is short and that inter-divisional trades okay.

Fav. team growing up, lots of young up and coming talent that could earn him a cup before he retires, looks good in blue and orange?

The weather is a real deal breaker though.

It was merely a response to the rumours that Edmonton is interested in acquiring him. I'm not implying that he would ever want to waive there, nor do I think Edmonton would offer enough that would make us consider dealing him to a divisional opponent. I was simply creating a proposal with Edmonton, something in which I hoped others would do as well. Instead I'm met with the typical CDC response, of plugging one's ears and stomping their feet while simply screaming NO.
