This thread should be titled "goalie trade discussion thread"

There is no way Lui is guaranteed to be gone for the following reasons;

- Lui is playing stellar this year
- Lui has a "tough to move" contract
- Cory has an "easy to move" contract
- we r almost ten games into the season and Lui has played the majority

*sigh*

Sometimes I wonder if this is the Mason Raymond Trade thread instead of the Roberto Luongo trade thread...

Every trade thread is a Mason Raymond Trade thread.

Yep, with CS likely getting the next start because St.Paul hates Luongo.

GMMG needs to make a trade with a weak team, and get their first round pick in the trade. In order to get his hands on the first he ll have to make a move quick...It will pay off...

So you're saying that you can dish it out, but you can't take it.

Welcome to reality, where Henrik Sedin has 0 goals. Deal with it.

"Kessel and change" - Toronto wouldn't even consider for a second giving us Phil Kessel for Roberto Luongo, so you can just drop the "and change" part.

And I maintain the position that if Phil Kessel were instead on a team like the Carolina Hurricanes, he would be very highly thought-of. Here's a question; do you like Jordan Schroeder? I'd say that they're somewhat comparable players. Small, quick, smart, shifty, good hands, etc. If you think Kessel's worthless, what do you think of Schroeder?

Kessel in 9 games 0g 4a -4
Schroeder in 7 games 0g 2a +4

Your boy Kessel not doing to good huh? So glad Hank and Jordan aren't out top goal scorers. Poor TO

Those types of teams are usually rebuilding teams. Non-playoff and rebuilding teams usually unload their veterans and are looking for young talent to complement their cores.

Teams that are on the bubble by the trade deadline can become wishful and desperate enough to seek instant help and at a hefty price to themselves. Sometimes it works, other times not so much.

For Luongo, it's, Florida or nothing else.

For Schneider, as of today, it's Washington, Philadelphia, Florida, Winnipeg, NYI, Toronto, Calgary, Columbus, Colorado, Los Angeles, Dallas, Detroit, Nashville.

Haha that's hilarious. I editted your post a bit, to make it more accurate. I must say that Schneider list gave me a good chuckle. LA and Nashville, Really? Cause they don't have top 5 goaltenders.

Exactly. It doesn't look like Luongo is man who wants to be traded, It doesn't look like a man who will just give up his position. In fact, as secod in both sv% and GAA, it looks like Luongo has regained and keeping his number one position. It looks like Schneider's agent is "growing impatient" when Gillis is all about the process; patience is key.

This makes it easier for Gillis to trade Schneider for greater returns. The tables have turned.

I didn't know Philly, Los Angeles, and Nashville were in the market for goalies.

Or B Burke and (was it) MacTavish? No, it was Kevin Lowe...

I'd rather see Old News and King of ES personally... Cant wait to see the advanced stats and perception of diminished value (or is that capacity) before that one?

My money's on King; if only cuz his name is better suited to fight nights!

Wonder if Gollumpus would be a sleeper with a big whump???

Back on topic; Does Eric Fehr, former 1st rounder, 212lb good ol Canadian kid from Winkler have any secondary interest for us in a transaction?

You are bottomfeeding again.

If this secret team was Columbus, who would be the player and what would we get in the trade?

Umberger and Johansen?

I'm not going to presume to know where Luongo would refuse to go - if he's willing to go to Toronto, in my opinion Columbus probably has a better future and certainly better youth in their organization.

I'd be interested in Dubinsky (and I think Gillis has liked his game for some time if I'm not mistaken) or Anisimov...I think either would make the Canucks nice and deep up the middle - I'd also like to see either Nikitin or Savard in a deal.

People make this comment about Umberger all the time, but he's only had one playoff season where he played more than 5 games or had more than 3 points. Six seasons ago he had 10 goals in 17 games and has been reputed to be a playoff beast ever since.
By those standards I'm not sure why we don't hear Sean Bergenheim's name in more proposals.
Umberger is a big guy who scores 20 goals on a regular basis, but his 4.6 might be a little rich to add to our mix - Dubinsky isn't cheap either so he might not be a likely return, but the kind of 3rd line C that would be nice to add (and Schroeder could still have a shot at RW?).

This is more appealing to Columbus because they acquire a young goaltender who will comlement and stabilize their team for years to come. Luongo is more appealing to the Cancuks because he's elite and on a mission to prove you personally, how wrong you are and has been signed long-term and complements and stabilizes this team and that, for years to come.

Both teams win big.

Winning doesn't care about history. If the guy is the best fit in the best deal Gillis can get, then he's the guy... And Kesler and umberger can be professionals about it I'm sure.

If we don't get value for Luongo and these clowns for gms don't want to pay up, then maybe we have to trade Schneider.
It blows my mind how all these teams say he's too much money and aren't interested or are interested and give us a bag pucks.
It's comical. He's a top 5 goalie in the league and looks as good as he's ever has.

Lu and Raymond for Dub and their 1st. sign Antoine Laganière we are set down the middle, on D and, in net. Also that pick and Laganiere should replenish our prospect pool.

..how come you didn;t respond to Hemskes goal. Lou stood there...was hardly focused !

Because I didn't see Dubnyk face even close to the equivalent? Lou faced two semi-breakaways and a penalty shot. Dubnyk faced, what, a whiffle shot from noted sniper Henrik Sedin?

Ftr, I didn't like Lou's frozen statue on that play but it's also not as if the defenceman was draped all over Hemsky (he walked in unscathed) unlike Hansen who had two Oilers covering him when scored from behind the friggin' goalline. People on here absolutely crucify Luongo when he allows goals like that.

Kassian.... Taylor Pyatt 3.0

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

This just proves he is absolute crap.

For anyone to think that we could get Alzner/Green plus a 1st needs to learn some objectivity.

Another example of why to not put stock into his tweets, and thats "#CONFIRMED"

I am 100% convinced he uses CDC as one of his sources.

While that would be nice, with the way Lu is playing there is no way they will be a bottom feeder. The Canucks would not be in a playoff spot right now if it wasn't for Lu.

They wouldnt be bottom feeders but most likely wont make playoffs. Lu is playing well but its not like Cory is playing bad. after that first game his save % is .932 (which includes the game in which the Canucks didnt show up against the redhot sharks). Even GMMG said that the canucks were giving up "layups" to the sharks. There was also that double deflection goal off of Burr and Marleau (sp?). That game against the AVs was a gimme shutout for either one of our goalies (there is a reason why Lu was put in for that game and you should realize that it was not cause Cory couldnt get us the win). If you are being real than you would know that we would be where we are, with either goalie and thats just the logical truth.

I never said Schneider was playing bad. IMO he will be the better goalie but Lu is playing lights out right now. He is the only reason the Canucks got points against Chicago and Edmonton.
A team will not be a bottom feeder with Lu in goal.
