Johnny Gaudreau>any Casucks

Edler, Markstrom, Hansen, 2nd round pick 2014 to Islanders for Ryan Strome, 5th overall pick 2014

This is fairly even as well.

Nice win! Kassian is turning into an amazing player.

Hopefully this will ease some doubts about Schneider, he was awesome tonight! I thought for sure they were going to lose the shootout after Elder and Sedin's weak shootout attempts, but he still made amazing saves in regulation and got the job done in the shootout.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

Hey guys, I missed most of the game and just saw Kassian win it for the nucks in the shootout, so could anyone tell me how Schroeder did? Really disappointed that I missed his NHL debut :(

Also to the people saying that Schneider isn't a starter... Look at the shootout...

He is a starter. But the shootout defines a starter in your books? Apart from the deke, goalies are not going to get beat with straight shots like the Flames attempted. Routine saves for Schnieder really.

All I can say is typical Canucks stanley cup president trophy hockey, The sedins set up the Zach attack, Schroeder looked like Hodgson, we were solid on the forecheck, Lapierre entered beast mode with 7 hist, D looked solid, Schneids looked like a trophy winner.

Good win boys. Happy for Kassian to score, be a physical presence, and get the shootout/game winner.

I also liked the addition of Schroeder and the way Raymond played. I noticed him quite a bit tonight. and not in the same way as usual. He made good passes and scored, and had good back check, and when there were plays where the puck was lost he'd come in and retrieve it in the defensive end.

Schneider was great, not perfect, but great. I'm sure he could have had those two goals back.

There were some bad plays by the defence at times. Schroeder still needs to muscle up some more. But he still made plays while falling on the ice. I think he's a much better Centre that actually makes plays around his team mates compared to Kesler.

I was slightly disappointed in Lapierre's game tonight. Edler too. Guys are still getting back to game shape, looks like a bit of rust came off and is a good sign. Garisson seemed to have some trouble at times but overall the team played better for sure. Just couldn't put in more goals as they dominated the 1st.

I really feel like Kass, Burr, and Tanev were our best players in that game. Ballard looked pretty good too

Solid Debut, got north of 12 minutes tonight, and wasn't a defensive liability. Made some silky passes, and showed good speed, rarely made a mistake, good on the forecheck.

The only thing I didn't like was him in front of the net on the PP, he has a great mind, and that's going to waste with him in front of the net, he should be QBing the PP

He played really well for his first game. AV gave him quite a few minutes surprisingly.

He didn't do anything spectacular, but his passes were crisp, his defensive game was solid, and he even threw a couple hits.

I think people will see that his size won't be as big of a factor as people think. He's fast and strong on his skates. And he puts the puck right on the stick of open players.

why the constant line juggling? 1 week pre season just set the lines and be done with it let the players get used to eachother and stop breaking up the top line for PP it just leads to more juggling after the PP is over
