To Everyone Who Hates Raymond

raymond has played terrible and had a nice goal tonight but after that was a non factor.

he is useless especially when he tries to set up in the offensive zone with his down the boards stop turn around go the other way stop turn around go back down but lose the puck turnover.

he needs to be a more off the puck player, get in position and let the playmakers do the work of setting up and getting him the puck in good position.

I ragged on him last year (When I think it was deserved honestly, not entirely because of his play but also a big factor was that AV continued to give him chances he didn't deserve and he flopped, unfortunatly everyone jumped on him.)

I do like what I have seen so far, as long as he is with Schroeder, Schroeder gives him something to work with, I don't think he meshes well with Ebbett at all and Kesler.. Meh perhaps there is potential to have something but I think he is great with a playmaking center that can dish the puck to him, create plays, and see plays in the back of his head so Raymond just has to get open and shoot.

That's what he has to do, he has a good shot so he has to be the trigger man rather than trying to carry it like he has in the past (Last year) He just needs to use his speed to get open and then have someone get the puck to him, and that guy appears to be JS.

Great to see him play well, was a huge fan at one point, it died off a bit with his poor play last year but I am starting to become a big fan of his agian, hopefully he continues this, we could really use his offense.

First things First. Im not starting this thread because he scored a goal tonight. Im a long time forum reader first time poster. But enough is enough. Apparently this fanbase has to have a whipping boy....

Have none of you ever played on a team before? You support your brothers no matter what. If they have a bad day, week, month, season. You stick by them and support them no matter what. But what baffles me to no end. IS how KESLER gets a free pass last year cuz he is coming of an injury......... Are you serious. RAYMOND had a freaking broken back! Came back before kesler and still managed to put up points. But that isnt enough for you. You have to destroy the kids confidence by ripping on him nonstop.

Now he has had some time to heal and come back strong and there is threads popping up how he is completely useless 2 games in, after having a hatrick in a scrimmage. Ok my vent is over and i hope you haters can focus on whatever is so terrible in your life that you have to rag on a member of this team so you can feel better about yourself. I will go on record right now and say that raymond will have a breakout season and get back to his 25 goal season form. Especially with the chemistry he has found with schroeder. Take from this what you will. But the whole point of being a fan is to support your team no matter what. NOT sit behind your keyboard and bully the sh1t outta them!!!

i have never really ever liked raymond. there was also a time when burrows was the the fall down evey time he touched the puck guy. i also hated kelser because itb seemed like he was never going to live up his potential (yeah he sucked for awhile). the sedins used to play with trent klatt on the third line. for some reason i have hope in raymond this year, i truly think the adversity of a broken back, the fact he went to arbitration, the fact everyone (including myself) bashes him, the fact THE CANUCKS NEED HIM TO PERFORM this year, he will be great this year. think of vyacheslav (not sure if thats spelled right) kozlov of the red wings. perfect secondary scorer who was just good enough defensively to make the perfect difference, being a huge part of :the russian five" to win the cup a couple of times. for some reason i feel raymond can be a kozlov on this team this year. could be wrong but i feel he will be a huge part of the team this year

Schroeder is going to find it tough to last as he admirably goes to the hard areas and he should not.

The guy is said to be 5'6 1/2" and he has to come up with the crafty center schtick or become seriously injured or redundant - quick.

As for Mason, the guy plays better the closer the Canucks get to Cochrane.

He needed a confidence booster and he got one so that is all good.

Last night wrist shot was awesome.

This isn't his first one either. Last year, in maybe his second game back he had a great goal against Montreal.

I was there for my first Canucks game ( flew over from The Netherlands) and that shot was a rocket after a nice toe-drag.

This guy can skate and has some finishing touch as well. he is just not that physical. That's why most fans prefer Kesler over Raymond. Because we all like to see guys who play with an edge. Raymond is no Lucic or Kesler. He has more finesse and less BANG.

I've always been impressed with Raymond and even when he wasn't producing he's still somewhat fun to watch with his speed. His ability to stop on a dime really throws off the defenders. And yes, he is surprisingly defensive-minded of late.

The problem with him is, and always has been, his strength. He is always playing on the outside and simply cannot compete with even average-sized defensemen and while his moves might be fun, the fact they amount to nothing is completely infuriating. I'd happily see him lose 10% of his speed and agility if he put on 10% more muscle and wouldn't fall down at the slightest draft wafting through the stadium.

It looks like with this time off he might have completely recovered from his broken back. For that I give him mad props. But I'm not at all convinced he'll be particularly productive this season.

thankfully, most of you here have no say in who gets traded. mayray has speed and great playmaking ability. oooo he falls down....but he gets back up and has the speed to get back in the play...time for some of you to start watching figure skating where falling down matters.

as for why you dont see him in the slot with the puck.... its because he is the one retrieving the puck and making the play........not everyone can stand around waiting for a pass.

this team needs a player like mayray and there are not many of his type out there. if there is, other teams will not let go of them.
