Red Light Racicot
Raymond has a better wrist shot than Kesler. This was last year, when he was still getting back to form. If Raymond is capable of that kind of shot while not even being completely healed and 100% fit, who knows what he's capable of? Kesler has a quick release and can pack some velocity, but accuracy-wise it's nowhere near as close as where Raymond can place that disc. Don't think I'm suddenly homering Raymond after the Cgy goal. I always knew he had a good shot. I honestly believe Raymond is the closest thing to a sniper that we have since Naslund.
5minutesinthebox
I don't think people hate him. I just think he has frustrated a lot of people because he has so much skill and for the past few seasons he hasn't really used it at all. It's been a bit of a wasted roster spot keeping him around and he has brought his linemates down to his level too, which is a double (or even a triple) whammy If he uses his skills though he's a tremendous asset. Hopefully he can play like this consistently and not just revert to old ways after a few games
5minutesinthebox
If he has a wrist shot superior to Kesler's how come he cant score 20 goals?
5minutesinthebox
Well, as long as he is a consistent secondary scorer on this team, he's doing his part! Just gotta work on keeping the +/- up
5minutesinthebox
Okay Raymond had a key goal for us tonight, but really, the puck squirted out to him while he was in a prime scoring position. It wasn't like he scored the best goal ever. I hope he builds his confidence off it though, I'd be very happy to see Raymond pot 20+ this year. 5minutesinthebox
raymond has played terrible and had a nice goal tonight but after that was a non factor. he is useless especially when he tries to set up in the offensive zone with his down the boards stop turn around go the other way stop turn around go back down but lose the puck turnover. he needs to be a more off the puck player, get in position and let the playmakers do the work of setting up and getting him the puck in good position. Bananas
I like all these bandwagoner threads popping up 3 games in... Raymond, Kassian, the goalie "controversy"... I'll reserve judgement for when players prove themselves -- or not -- in the playoffs, not in the opening week of a shortened regular season filled with players who got drunk and sat on their porches on the Mediterranean beaches all winter long... while their bosses squabbled over peanuts like a bunch of raving chipmunks... On that note, and to actually contribute somewhat to the discussion... I guess... Raymond has consistently been complete garbage in the play-offs... so I'd still rather trade him to a team who needs a second line winger, and is scrambling to make the play-offs, rather than actually do well in the play-offs... Watsuko
Oh, you mean that debacle of a 1st round exit? Yea, Raymond was our 3rd best forward in a stretch of games in which we went 1-4. WOO!!! Seriously... why would you... i don't even...

Junkyard Dog
Raymond needs to play consistently well. He plays on a team that has a lot of wingers wanting that top 6 spot. If he doesn't there's not really a spot for him on this team, DEPENDING on how the next off-season goes. When everyone is healthy I predict that Raymond and Kassian will be fighting for that top 6 spot, you could maybe throw Higgins in there if he plays better when that time comes. Anything could happen... you just never know. That's my 2 cents.
Erik Karlsson
He looks a lot better this year, but he always plays really good against Calgary, probably because he was born in Alberta?
