Captain Bob

Geroy Simon Traded To Roughriders

Well, considering he was the highest paid non-quarterback in the league (at $200K) and he wasn't getting any younger, it made sense. They talked about renegotiating his contract but only had 48 hours to do that or work a trade. The trade happened as a result, and he's rumoured to be getting $170K with bonuses available up to $200K with the Riders.

Just an interesting extra, the Lions haven't ruled out signing him for a few games at the end so he can retire playing for the Lions.

Honestly the only times I have been interested have been because of Geroy Simons. Most people think of Geroy when they think BC Lions, and cant name anyone else.

It certainly is disappointing. Geroy Simon was traded because Buono and him could not reach a deal. ie. Buono wanted him to take less money for a reduced role. If Simon took less money and a reduced role he would still be here.

Guess he wanted too much and Wally wanted younger guys like Ianuzzi, Moore and Taylor to get more reps. Geroy will always be a Lion, his best days came in this city, a class act, this is a sad day as a Vancouver sports fans, up there with Linden,Naslund, and Bertuzzi leaving, and soon Roberto Luongo. Best of luck to Geroy (except against us)

Probably going to make the trip over for his first game back. Still sad but I guess I am coming to grips with it. Always thought he'd retire a Lion though. :(
