Not really news. Lots of NHL'ers do MMA training in the off season.

Bieksa has been doing it for some time as well.

Gillis dis say he wants to get a lot more players doing this as he's really pleased with the results.

Sedins next?

Weise did too, I read about it in the Province in July, he and Kass went and trained somewhere for a while.

Someone slip Bruce Buffer a few bills to record:

"Introducing first, FIGHTING out of the Blue corner, this man is an NHL hockey player, holding a professional record of 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. He stands six feet, 3 inches tall, weighing in at 213 pounds. Fighting out of Windsor, Ontario, Canada: Zack (witty nickname here) Kassian"

Gotta love the concussive fists of Kassian!

Makes sense, though.

Rypien was boxing, I also highly doubt he was the first hockey player to train in combat sports.

MG also says he's pleased with the results and he may have other prospects start doing it.

I was wondering where he got that move where he wrestled Eager down...from behind him.

Hordichuk trained with Chuck Liddel when he first signed with Vancouver.
