Yakupov's goal celebration: Over the top or justified

135 posts in this topic

Yakupov scored the equalizing goal with a few seconds left vs LA. It came a few seconds after an Oiler goal was disallowed.

What do you think, is the celebration over the top a la Ovechkin's antics or just part if the youth movement in the NHL.

Why do we have to make threads about every little detail that goes on.

You could have easily put this in the GDT around the league thread.

I think it was fine, it was a late tying goal, he is a young player on a young team & to be blunt he is Russian and they always seem to want to show that extra enthusiasm in their celebrations.

under the circumstances I am fine with it.

Love the kid. Canucks need a game breaker like him.

He can celebrate however he likes after scoring an important goal to tie the game with 4 seconds left in 3rd period. Particularly when he scores a great goal the way he did, batting the puck out of mid air.

Such a dumb thread, let the kid celebrate. He scored a goal and was excited, why must this be created after every celebration ????

I don't see what's wrong with it, showing a bit of passion, enjoying the moment. More players should do the same.

I think some people are going to bash it for whatever reason, but in my opinion it was fine. Great cele for a GTG in the last 10 seconds of the game.

I don't mind it.

But if that was a Canuck, CBC/TSN/Sportsnet(Ontario) would be hating big time.

What the NHL needs more of. The stars of old like Crosby and Ovechkin are fading, this league needs new exciting players to watch.
