Pretty straight forward. Mine would be the Neely trade by obvious choice, but the Adams for Russ Courtnall trade. Courtnall bombed, and Adams was one of the hearts of the team, and we lost him. Not just that, but he was decent in Dallas too.

One of the best trades.Trevor Linden got us Todd Bertuzzi and Bryan McCabe. Bertuzzi became Roberto Luongo, which will become who knows. McCabe became on the Sedins.

Would you still take it back knowing it would mean no Bertuzzi or Luongo? Genuine question, sucked to see him leave but he did come back with troops haha.

Just trades? If it was all deals, I would undo the Messier signing.

linden should've never left the team.

But look at the return we got on that one.

And for my vote... Neely.

Of all time: Neely

From the time I became a Canucks fan to now: Grabner for Ballard. Imagine our prospect pool if we had Howden/Kuznetzov/Etem in it
  • 2

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

More recently, probably the Keith Ballard trade.

Gave up our first + Grabner (Bernier too, but not much of a loss)

Players that were still available at pick #25:

- Evgeny Kuznetsov
- Quinton Howden
- Emerson Etem

Neely, Hands down. Anyone who says the Hodgson trade doesn't have their brain turned on. Hodgson may turn out to be a star, but not a 50-goals-in-less-than-50-games kinda guy.

From the time I became a Canucks fan to now: Grabner for Ballard.

Why do people still bring this up? It made sense to give up Grabner and Bernier (neither fit on the team-- Bernier was a failed PF and Grabner was is a one-trick pony), and the player available with the 1st (Howden) wasn't someone management wanted (otherwise they would've picked Quinton); Ballard was going to be a Top 4 (until Hamhuis signed then he got bumped down) and Oreo looked like a solid Bottom 6 foot soldier

2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

Wise words Son Goku ;)

I wasn't into hockey enough back in the Neely trade days to remember it much. Trading Willie Mitchell was probably a bad idea though. We could've used him big time in the last few years.

Except they never traded Willie. He just never re-signed with the team after his contract was up and chose to sign in L.A. (for more money than the Canucks were offering) instead.

other than the big ones already mentioned (Neely, Ballard, Gelinas/McLean, Linden, etc.)...

all of the trades we made at the 2006 deadline. Keith Carney, Eric Weinrich, Mika Noronen and Sean Brown. Holy crap they were terrible, and the team just nosedived after that anyway. I know all we gave up were draft picks and low-end prospects, but yikes, even one of those might've turned into something better down the road than those four.

Ah okay fair point. I stand corrected. I was concentrating on the "you'd take back" part and forgot about the trade part of the topic :P

I guess my underlying point stands that I regret we let him go though. He was a quality shutdown D-man with leadership, we could've definitely used him.

I'd take back the Neely. Another player (thou we didn't trade him away) that I wish we could have kept was Larionov.

Actually, they were all depth ones, and the Noronen one I was kinda liked, would have been nice to have him back up Roberto the following year, just sucks he didn't want to stick around.

Other than the obvious ones:

February 2007: To Vancouver Canucks: Brent Sopel
To Los Angeles Kings : 2nd round pick inr 2007 (Wayne Smimmonds)

Canucks shold have known better than to want Sopel at this point, not to mention how nice Simmonds would look here right now.

It was more about the contact length if I remember correctly. Gillis didn't want to give Willie a two year deal after his concussion and LA was a team that was actually willing to.

Evidently that was a good call by them, I was upset when we lost him.

Also: Neely.
