I've been wondering if the player the Luongo deal has been waiting on is the injured Brooks Laich in Washington

To Washington: Roberto Luongo

2013 1st overall pick

To Vancouver: Brooks Laich

Karl Alzner

Follow up by dumping some salary

To Columbus: Keith Ballard

Mason Raymond

To Vancouver: Steve Mason

OR

Curtis McElhinney and Cody Goloubef

In my defence Steve Mason has little value right now as Bobrovsky has pretty clearly taken the 1A job

Following the return of injured players

Sedin Sedin Kassian

Laich Kesler Booth

Burrows Lappiere Higgins

Hansen Malhotra Weise

Edler Garrison

Hamhuis Bieksa

Alzner Tanev

Schneider

Mason

Raymond and Ballard for Steve Mason? Ouch.

Laich imo is too much cap hit for a third line center, which is what he'd be in a month - for that reason I don't see him as a good fit.

I disagree with the other posters though - imo Alzner doesn't have more value than Luongo, particularly to a team like Washington gambling on two youngsters like the Leafs are. Alzner is an RFA however and will command significantly more than the 1.3 he's making.

If you can convince McPhee of the first trade, then sure.

No to the 2nd one. It's terrible for Vancouver.

I want to keep our first round pick for the 2013 draft, and if possible get another one. Its going to be one of the best drafts in a while

Just wait 3-4 more games......they will come crawling on their hands and knees to Gillis.

Luongo's value is going to skyrocket in the next few days/weeks. For teams like Washington. Kuznetsov/Forsberg would be my goal if I was MG. Johansson isn't really a nescessity if Schroeder continues his strong play
