Swedish Vikings
Love watching salo pile up the points in Tbay. Really miss his big shot from the point Garrison need to start shooting more. ^Garrison must shoot more to redeem himself
Swedish Vikings
Every player we let go is the best, and every player we acquire sucks. You guys should learn that by now. so not true, we acquired Kassian and he's ballin

DCR
Salo may put up more points than Garrison this season. He's unlikely to do so next season, and I would argue that he's unlikely to dress for significantly more than half the games next season. As far as I know, Garrison was signed for his defense as much or more than his offense, and if he can come up big defensively, that's more important right now than his offense. Salo's instincts are great but he's slowing down. He's not a long term choice at the money Tampa offered, not for here. It's the right direction because Garrison is going to be a much better defender in the 2014-15 season than Salo, if he even plays.
EmployeeoftheMonth
AT THE MOMENT, down in the south, the Tampa Bay Lighting are really lighting the lamp and with Sami Salo, the veteran D man who use to play for us signed a 2 year (3.7M/per year) contrast with Tampa in the off-season. He's now paired up with Victor Hedman, a 6-6 monster from the hometown of the Sedin's and BY FAR, they are on fire so far. Sami Salo's guidance and experience will help shape how Victor Hedman will be in the future. Now what I am saying is that we made a mistake letting Salo go and signing Garrison who had only 1 good season and may not show consistency which may be a problem. So my question is, will Salo out-perform Garrison? Keep in mind they have a stacked 1st line down there. Hey King welcome back.

nuck nit
he wanted TWO years........with the cap going down we would not be able to afford him as MG wanted to go younger....... As opposed to TWELVE years(Luongo, cough, cough) and it is highly ridonkeylous that Vancouver could not afford him. Gillis wanted him.It was front page on CDC the morning of free agency that the .org s #1 priority was to sign Salo. Of course, that was just more spin for the young uns to lap up into perpetuity. higgyfan
Sami has never had an injury free season in his (15) NHL career and I doubt that will change. I hated seeing him leave, but can understand MG not wanting to commit for another 2 years. The Nucks cannot afford to have another 27 game year (2011) from a top 4D. He's a great player, but he's no good to us when he's on the injured reserve list. Garrison is younger, bigger and stronger. Comparisons after 4 games are pointless. Let's come back to this post after next season.

Were trying to build a sustainable hockey club. Thank god your not GM
Kesler's Nose
We did lose out on Salo, but it's not like it was intentional.. MG wanted to sign him, Salo is the one that jumped the gun. He's doing awesome on Tampa, it's always nice to see ex-Canucks players do good on other teams! I think he's like plus-8 and has 3 assists or something like that already, him and Hedman make a great defensive pairing! Garrison will start producing though, mark my words. He is here for the long haul so get used to it buddy! He is still a new player to our systems and to his team mates, just give him a little time. I hate it when fans don't have any patience, slow and steady wins the race- just ask the rabbit. lol
jagori78
Tampa is an awesome city, and if I a couple years left in my career, I'd want to go play there, for sure. Get a solid pay-check for 2 more years, take it easy in the sun, why not? Salo put in his hard work, and signing in Tampa was a good reward for a solid career. -Jagori
SamJamIam
Salo has 3 points and a +8. That's great for him and I'm glad he's still seeing success but Garrison has our top +/- too. The big difference is Tampa didn't have a game where their goalie totally shat the bed. Factoring in the minutes they're getting and the two teams goal differential, they're pretty much on par, and Garrison hasn't even been properly worked into the PP yet. 4 games isn't a sample size worth drawing conclusions from. Sanford
Salo has always been our most solid D-men. Sad to see him go.
