Ohlund, Ehrhoff, Salo, all great players that chased more money than they were worth, good for them. All smart business decisions by Canucks management.

It's gonna be smart come the reckoning of next year. Good luck to most of the good teams next year, when they need to shed 4-6M of cap space in a single year. When we trade luongo, and/or drop ballard raymond malhotra (all fairly redundant players), we will be in good position to pick up someone else and we will be in better position than those teams with 7-9M$ forwards and defensemen.

9.33 mil in goalies would be a really good reason.

What's this have to do with either Salo or Garrison?

LOL You sure have a knack of smoking these guys out.

What's tomdavie rockin' with as of late? I haven't seen his shtick much this year. Scott Gomez and plummeting league revenues, ftw.

He was drybone until he snapped...again.

[SALO UPDATE] As of January 29th. 2013, Salo played 5 games and has 5 assist and 5 points. He's 1 PPG. +9 Rating. TAKE THAT MIKE GILLIS

Salo 0 goals
Garrison 1 goal and 10 years younger.

Unfortunately, for a d-man to get assists, somebody else actually has to score. Something most of our forwards have had trouble doing. Garrison also leads our team in +/-. Not too shabby for the "new" guy. He'll get better as he develops chemistry.

Sami went there to tell Hedman how great Vancouver is!

and as far as Garrison goes,
he wanted to be a Canuck and he took less money to play here, nuff said!

Ah so stats do lie. We have indeed got ourselves a bargain.
How do we go about getting Hedman?

I was sad to see Sami go, one of my favorite Canucks of all time

I like the guy so much that he is in a strange catagory where I find myself happy that he is doing great in Tampa and I only wish the guy the best.

Kinda like when Linden, Bure, Naz, Wellwood, Rycroft and BMO left.

For some reason Burt, Mitchell, and COHO sting me a little different.

I wish those guys the worst

Willie Mitchell left because he wanted to win a Cup and felt Vancouver wasn't the right team for him. Lo and behold, he has his Cup ring....

Certainly going to be our #1 defensemen. Give him a couple more years to improve his game and he'll be our new and improved version of Matthias Ohlund in no time

[SALO + HEDMAN UPDATE] Salo: 0 Goals 5 assist 5 Points +10 2 PIM 8 Games Played
Hedman: 2 Goals 3 assist 5 Points +9 0 PIM 8 games Played

As for J.Garrison....1 Goal 0 Assist 1 Point +3 and 6 PIM with 8 games played

SO WHOS BETTER? -.-

Garrison is a turnover machine + penalty magnet

Salo= dependable reliable core dman with a shot better or as good as Garrison's shot from the point. + Salo is cheaper

WHY ACQUIRE GARRISON?!?!

Garrison: 9 hits, 9 BkS, 1 GvA, 3 TkA

Turnover machine huh.

Love Salo but at this point Garrison is the better player to have.

I'd rather have Garrison but maybe with the extra cap room next year we could have him end his career where he belongs, in Van.

^What does Alberts know about points?! So we didn't go all in on Sami or Schultz, but maybe our GM is sharper than the avg CDCer?

I've defended Gillis' drafting and him as a GM in general. He's built a great team, and we just were too broken to win the finals in 2011. CDC acts like they know everything and shut up when the player they want performs, while he's never mentioned if he goes cold. Three good examples for this season.

Grabner: Last season/ this offseason people wouldn't shut up about him. Guy has a few points in his last thirty games. No mention of him at all.

Jschultz: Possibly one of the worst defenseman defensively in the NHL. Jesus it's sad to watch him play

On a smaller scale, Lapierre/Torres. People were crying about Laps in the summer, but Richardson has proved to be a good player.
