Marleau's more talented than people give him credit for. But this hot start is just that. Pretty cool that he's got a record to his name though.

It won't last because Kassian is going to concuss him, Prediction.

It's pretty freakin' incredible no doubt. Maybe he'll have his best years in his mid-30s? He's also nearing 400 goals.

An incredibly offensively talented player is having a hot start playing with one of the best passers in the NHL against defencemen that may be out of shape? Who'da thunk.

He's a great player, but there's no way he can continue this pace...even with Thornton and Pavelski.

If I remember correctly, Kessel and Lupul were on pace for about 250pts after the 1st 10 games of last season...

Common misconception. Marleau is 2nd in playoff scoring among active NHL'ers.

If you really want to bring that up.

Pavel Datsyuk has 33 goals in 126 playoff games.
Marleau has 52 in 129.

Marleau has always shown up in the playoffs. You can ask any San Jose fan. He's just unreasonably bashed. If those stats aren't good enough, he's also tied 2nd in GWG among active players. Jaromir Jagr is first, with 3 more and 50 more games. First among active players in Short handed goals. Only 33 years old.

People are just too amused by Jeremy Roenick comments on Marleau last year, but truth is, Roenick is a nut and has had 13+ Concussions. Anyone who actually watches the sport knows whats going on.

I was getting at the fact that he's put up a lot of playoff points, in a lot of playoff games...but never played in a SCF game. You know, where it matters.

Stupid argument. Joe Thornton never has made it to the SCF, does it change the fact that he's one of the best play makers in this generation? NHL is a team game, one player alone, won't get you to the cup.

The problem with Marleau is that he is all-world one playoff series, and then suddenly craps the bed in the next.

Reminds me of another former captain...

There isn't a single player who can single handedly take a team through the playoffs. If the team chooses to shut down Crosby, Malkin has to step up, and vice versa. I use Crosby because he supposedly is the best player in the game. Did the Canucks making the finals now teach you anything at all? There isn't a Gretzky in the league. During the playoffs, it's all about the match ups. This is why it's rare for players to consistently be tops in scoring. In the playoffs, you learn a lot about these players, and learn to shut them down. For the past few years, teams have been so focused on shutting down Ovechkin, that Ovechkin doesn't even know what to do anymore. Shut down defense man like Pronger can dominate the league, but we don't see them often anymore. It's the reason Seth Jones will probably be picked ahead of Nathan McKinnon. Defensive side of the game is far superior to any offense.

OMG SUNDIN.

The word fear is not in our dictionary, it is in the eyes of the enemy.

The objective of war is not to die for your country, it is to make the enemy die for theirs.

One generation plants the trees, the other gets the shade.

Marleau matches 96-year-old record with two goals in season’s first four games:

San Jose’s Patrick Marleau became just the second player in NHL history to score multiple goals in the first four games of the season, leading the unbeaten Sharks to a 4-0 victory over visiting Colorado on Saturday.

Marleau netted two first-period power play goals to become the first player to achieve the feat since the Ottawa Senators’ Cy Denneny in the NHL’s inaugural 1917-18 season, the league said on its website.

Already the league leader in goals, Marleau struck twice in 80 seconds against the Avalanche to take his total to eight in the first four games.

“I’ll take them as they come, trying to do the same thing, trying to work and going to those same areas,” he told reporters. “My linemates have been playing great, too.”

Asked if he had been hoping for a hat trick in one of those two-goal games, Marleau replied: “It’d be nice, but I’m not going to get greedy.”

The Sharks centre also picked up an assist on Joe Thornton’s second-period power play goal to give him 11 points this season.

“I don’t know if he can keep scoring two goals every night, but he can keep his play up the way it’s been,” Sharks coach Todd McLellan told reporters.

“He’s been skating extremely well. A ton of confidence. He’s prepared to shoot the puck. He’s engaged physically. It’s a great reward for him. He came focused to play.”

Both of Marleau’s goals came after a big hit on Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog by Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart.

Avalanche defenseman Ryan O’Byrne confronted Stuart after the hit and a long fight followed.

O’Byrne received 19 penalty minutes, including a 10-minute misconduct. Stuart was penalized five minutes for fighting.

Landeskog missed the rest of the first period before returning for the second.

Rookie defenseman Matt Irwin delivered the Sharks’ other goal, also in the second period.

Sharks netminder Thomas Greiss had 24 saves in his first start of the season to record his first NHL shutout.

“I always had to make just the first save and they took care of the rest,” Greiss said. “Blocked a lot of shots, too. Made my life pretty easy today.”

The Avalanche (2-2), who had won two in a row before Saturday’s game, fell to their ninth consecutive defeat on San Jose ice.

Marleau has 52 in 129.

O no, someone actually use logic and stats to judge a NHL player. This is so wrong that you should get hang on a wooden cross and burn in fire. This logic mumble jumbo is witch craft!
