I actually like AV, but I do agree it's time we need a new coach. I keep seeing the same old thing from this team. They need to wake up, and I think only a coaching change can do that now.

Oh no, we lost 2 games in regulation. Time to fire AV

Your a loser then if you call yourself a grown up and you sit on the internet. Do you work? probably not, if you did you would be in bed right now instead of here, if you consider yourself a mature adult. Clearly your not, clown.

It's you're, not your.

crap i'm arguing with an 11 year old about whether a perennial top 5 GA/G team has a good D or not.

You dun trolled me good. /kudos

The only goal that I thought could be called iff-y was the last. But it was a blast from the point on the PP with a screen in front. It's the type of goal that goes in every day in the NHL and I've see a lot go by Lou just the same.

Yeah I don't think any were bad, but I've learned people are awful critical. I think the score was pretty indicative of the Sharks play, and Schneider kept us in there so we had a chance to keep it competitive, all you can really ask of a goalie IMO.

Now i see why Montreal traded Lapierre, very snotty after the game when questioned about the stupid crosscheck penalty that changed the course of the game. If that's how he's gonna react when called out by AV then we don't need him. Very selfish player and very selfish play that cost the team. Not impressed with him at all.
You wouldn't see any other player on the team act that way in an interview after the game. He's one that could turn into a cancer on the team if he turns on AV, i hope i'm wrong?

Exactly shows your maturity level. An 11 year old kid can get you to engage in an argument....Enough said.

Sure dude, I don't know you're 11 (and/or a basket case) until I see how you behave.

Can I honestly ask you - do you think the Canucks D has been weak the past two years?

I have faith that Bieksa and Hamhuis will become our best defensive shutdown pairing again,
I have faith that Garrison will hit the net with his slappers
I have faith that Edler will start scoring
I have faith that Ballard and Tanev will continue their awesome play
and I will reserve judgement of our team's needs until Kesler and Booth comes back to the lineup. For both a bigger sample of information and the fact that they are two important pieces to our team.

POPULAR

I don't understand how people can continue to defend AV. Issues that have been brought up surrounding him aren't new, this is just yet another reminder that there are problems.

- We fold like a cheap tent every time we face adversity, we have seen it time and time and time again going back throughout the years.

- We fail to make necessary changes to the PP, exc.

- AV continues to give Bieksa and others time when they play terrible, yet never rewards Ballard and Tanev with more minutes over those guys whenever they are playing miles better than the others.

- Seems like every 2nd, or 3rd or 4th game we fail to show up, he fails to get us mentally prepared.

- NEVER calls timeouts when we need it, there are times when timeouts are great to hault momentum and get the guys regrouped, but it is a tactic AV never uses and there are alot of times where it could help us.

AV just isn't cutting it, these things aren't new, this isn't just new this year, these things go back to last year and even beyond with some things.

because nobody has a bad game, i saw a comment about how horrible kassian was tonight losing battles, the kid is a beast, and straight outta the ahl. he's playing with the sedin's yes? but is not todd bertuzzi. and not a natural goal scorer. he was one of the better players imo tonight and has been.

I replied to you so it was you who said it lol. Anyways that's what I'm trying to say from a guy who saw the highlights and based on that I already know what kind of game it was from the defense.

I know you replied to to me but I was not the one that said what you were talking about. Go back and read the chain again.

See I responded to your response to another poster, then you responded back to me about what the first poster said. Lost yet?

I do blame him... His 5mil sitting on the bench could have helped us a lot if it had skates on. This is why 10 mil on goalies in the cap world can't work.

By that logic, you should blame Gillis for still having him sit on that bench instead of starting somewhere else.

They shot themselves in the foot with a bad start. Although honestly, they didn't play that much worse than the Anaheim game. In Anaheim they were still getting outplayed 5-on-5 and turning the puck over.

Difference was they got the timely saves and the powerplay clicked. In this game we hit 5 posts. Sometimes luck swings the wrong way.

Either way we didn't deserve to win. They gotta pick their heads up and a play a tighter game with more intensity.

This team needs Kesler.

That game was so entertaining I don't even care that we lost. Good stuff there. If even a few of those posts had been goals, if a few of those goals-against that were crazy ricochets didn't go in, the score could have easily been reversed. Nobody should read anything into this game except for it was a fun game to watch.

To all of you who said "It's not Schneider's fault" I would bet that at least half of you would be changing that around if Lu were in net. Let's face facts, Cory wasnt the ONLY reason we lost tonight, but he was one of them. He was less than stellar, to say the least.

However, the team did him no favours by going 0/7 on the power play, hitting the post a half dozen times and with all the giveaways.

Edler,.....just because you are classed as an 'offensive dman', that does not mean that you don't have to play defense.....your game tonight was really offensive.
The Sedin's..........where is the offense?
Lapierre......We have possession of the puck in their end and you push their player into the net and dislodge it? Smart move and a penalty that resulted in another goal against.
The PP stunk up the joint and the PK was mediocre.
Right now, we look like a team playing for a better draft position. Anyone banking on Kesler and Booth instantly turning this team around are dreaming.
Once again, tonights game showed that we do not have enough size. Getting Kassian and Volpatti has made us tougher but we still are too small up front.

Get over your Lu love. You're worse than the Toronto media trying to turn everything into a Lu controversy.

For the record, hockey minds much sharper than ours agree, Cory was solid but left out to dry by poor D and horrific turnovers. He actually kept the team in with some stellar saves but there's only so much you can do sometimes.

Canucks always have a slow start and now this year, even more rust. Sharks top line and other players were playing in Europe during the lockout. Canucks are playing without a second line. Canucks hit 5 posts....the game wasn't as bad as the score.

Next week will look a whole lot better. We don't have to fire the coach and gm or dump on all the players.

Or hire someone who properly addresses the shortcomings with this team, rather than standing lifeless on the bench hoping the team will pull through like AV does.

Even with Kesler and Booth this is purely a non contending team. Can't score and can't play D. Reminds me of the one line offense in the nonis years. Too easy to shutdown. oh and the dreadful PP- hasn't been fixed since Boston finals... When is it time for a coaching change?

Interestingly the Canucks least worries was goaltending...

I hate trying to sift through these GDT PGT but some dude keeps complaining in the other threads like we're running out of space on the internet, so here goes.

While I would also like to see in-game adjustments made more often by the coach, these guys have had one week of training camp and crap all for practice. This isn't a static game like football with a book full of set plays. Hockey is far too dynamic to think in those terms. The PP tonight had chances that simply didn't result in goals.

Schneider played well but didn't steal the game. Luongo had nothing to do with tonights game. Get off your soapbox.

The top 4 D played poorly. Ballard and Tanev played well but do not fool yourselves into thinking they deserve more minutes than the top 4; they play bottom 6 minutes well because they are bottom 6 minutes. The coaches are right to not pressure them into situations they aren't yet ready to handle. Ballard and Tanev are doing exactly what they should be doing.

Only about half the forwards played well; Burrows, Raymond, Hansen all had decent games.

The team looks about like I'd expect them to look at this stage of this particular year.

Sometimes it seems like our fans fail to realize there is another team on the ice in opposition to ours.
