uber_pwnzor
Was watching the Senators - Penguins game yesterday. Pittsburgh get a power play; and Ottawa ice their first box play unit. You'd think that the Norris Trophy (defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position" in the National Hockey League) winner, the guy they just gave a seven year, $6.5 million per year contract, would be a part of that unit, but no. Erik Karlsson doesn't play box play, just power play. HOW CAN A GUY LIKE THAT WIN THE NORRIS????

D-Money
How can a guy who never kill penalties win the Hart? Or another guy who looks just like him win the Ted Lindsay? Perhaps they are so good at other things that you don't want to waste them on a job someone else can do. Perhaps you don't want them trying to block teed-up point shots. Perhaps this thread sucks... WHL rocks
He does play PK, just not a whole lot. EK is 175 Lbs, Not really suited to engage in puck battles down low and/or clear the crease. EK's game is geared towards puck possession. Why not use a bigger, stronger Dman on the PK and save EK's energy for what he does best.

D-Money
That's what I thought but Mike Green of 08-09 will always be my WTF O_O 73 points in 68 games. 31G 42A WTF WAS THIS GUY ON?! looks like Erik Karlsson caught the Mike Green syndrome. Too bad Mike Green didn't win a norris though.
bd71
If you want to know why he won the Norris watch the highlight of tonight's game winning goal in the Sens-Caps game. Karlsson has turned that team around. Last year many thought the Senators would challenge for last place and they were a playoff team. They still look like a playoff team this year. The kid is for real.

Edlerberry
He does play PK. its just that the sens have solid PK d men, and so they save Karlsson's 25~ mins for situations when he can make a bigger impact. The Sedins can PK, but AV saves them for offensive zone faceoffs.

malcolm-buckland
EK65 play 100x better than Mike Green of 08-09. |f you watched you'd know. Karlsson won the Norris for his Lidstrom like play. He is smart in his own zone with the puck, has a smooth transition through the neutral zone and his ability to set up scoring chances all in one possession. Karlsson can be used as a PK man, but why use someone not as suited for gritty battles when you have guys like, Phillips, Methot, Gonchar and Benoit. It would be like sending out Henrik to kill a 5 on 3… As per his offensive production, he is on pace for 48 pts this season, which in a full would be 82pts. So yeah it’s a fluke. Keep telling yourself that.
Ghostsof1915
How can Marleau and Thornton be outperforming Malkin, Crosby and Stamkos? I mean...don't they understand I have them in my pool?
