Since Keith Ballard has clearly (Along with the Tan Man) been our best defenseman, we can't buy him out/trade him in the offseason.

And obviously someone has to go, we can't have 5 guys making over 4 Million there with the cap dropping. So with that being said who is your candidate to move?

For me it would be Bieksa, I think Garrison will pick it up, and Bieksa has been Mr.Inconsistency every season except 10/11. Plus he would bring us back more in a trade than Ballard or Garrison would.

chill out guys... the canucks always start out slow at the begining of a season, and in each of those seasons, idiots in cdc will chant "fire AV" for whatsoever reasons they can come up with...

it's very tiring to see that, and it is extremely frustrating to see human being repeat their mistakes every single year.

It's really not much different since we were 1st by the halfway point last season.

As long as they start rolling by the end of February and March, they should be in a good position.

The important thing right now is to just stay in the mix until Kesler andBooth get back, and then they can make their surge.

Another stupid sit back and play D with a 1 goal lead for a period game. How many points over the past couple years have been lost because this absolutely dumb decision?

Luongo looked awesome.

Kassian looked great offensively, needs to throw his weight around more.

Top 4 D were garbage. Can we just make Tanev/Ballard are number 1 pair now?

Sedin's made like 1 good play all game, and still are absolutely garbage in their own end. You think with an elongated offseason they would have dedicated some of that time to learning to play in their own zone.

Shootout was horrific, excluding Luongo of course. I know that Burrows tried a new move but really? Just stick with what you know you can do right now, not like the Canucks are tearing it up.

All in all, still can't judge this team without having Kesler and Booth back healthy. Once they're back for about 10 games I want to see how the team is, problem is, by then, the season will be over.

Glad to see we're 6 games in now and still playing pretty pathetic overall. 12% of the season is completed. I hope people are aware of that. Normally I try not to be over dramatic and I usually am not, but the longer we struggle, it will be just that much tougher to lock up a playoff spot. And who the hell wants to grind it out to the very end to lock up that spot? It wont leave you with much energy, health, or drive for when the playoffs actually start. We're probably going to be challenged by those losers over in Edmonton for the division; what a joke. We should be blowing them out of the water.

Bieksa: 4.6 million 0 points

Garrison: 4.6 million 0 points

Ballard: 4.2 million 0 points

Luongo: 5.3 million for sitting on the bench half the time

Schneider: 4 million for sitting on the bench half the time

Depending on which goalie is playing, that is nearly 1/3 of the cap tied up in players not doing anything to ultimately help this team win. When this team is struggling, things like this stick out big time and it looks like mismanagement and way too much god damn money tied up into several players doing absolutely jack sh1t. Sure, these guys are 'holding the fort', if you want to call it that, but then again a lot of players can do that. For what these guys are making and what they've done in the past -- they need to do a helluva lot more. It's 6 games now, how much time do you really need?

And of course there is a disgusting lack of depth at center. I've mentioned it several times before and I'll do it again:

Henrik

Schroeder (Marginal prospect, NHL rookie)

Malhotra (Basically playing on one eye)

Lapierre (he's alright, certainly not someone you can rely on heavily in this scenario

Ebbett (Never has been and never will be a regular NHL'er)

.... It's pretty easy to see why this team is struggling. These are a couple of the biggest issues.

When this team is on fire -- they're amazing. And when they're struggling as they evidently are -- it's scary how many things are going wrong.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Ballard doesn't have any points, but has arguablly been our best defensemen. The others, I don't have much argument on.

I agree in some respects that having a goalie like that on the bench isn't ideal but if there isn't the right deal for us then it is the right situation to continue on with for now, I would like to see a Lu trade completed ASAP though, aslong as the return is decent and justifiable.

With the centers, so far Jordan has proven IMO to be what Cody was last year, if he can continue on with this, then I have no issue with him as a short term solution. Henrik & Lappy's play isn't very encouraging, although both have had their moments, and I remain optimistic they can bounce back, although the question is of when, and hopefully they can do it soon and on there own, rather than waiting for others to first pick up their's games, then follow suit after, cause who knows when that might be.

Manny, it is too early to judge, haven't seen enough from him, he isn't 10/11 Manny, but I don't see why he can't be a good 4th line specialist.

IMO it comes down to coaching, we continue to come unprepared and continue to not make adjustments, the PP has been brutal and AV continues to bang his head again the same cement wall by trotting out the exact same powerplay with the exact same strategy time and time again, it would also be nice to see the Weise experiment be put to an end, as while he is a very very good 4th liner, he doesn't bring much more, he is far more effective in that 4th line role than one where he is counted on offense playing with players like Schroeder and Raymond, I would rather put him in the role he is most effective, then give Burrows that offensive role. Also not to happy with AV's shootout decision, or decision to bench (in OT) the 2 forwards that were playing the best for us tonight (Kassian and Schroeder)

Hopefully AV changes the energy around the room, we need more intensity and focus, we need to really bare down and start playing the way we can, or else I think a change behind the bench is needed. (And no I am not just basing it off 6 games, we have been seeing these things for years, there aren't new by anymeans)

I'm getting really sick of Kesler and all his major surgeries that are keeping him out of the line up half the time. Every freaking year there's some sht like this going on with him. And now Booth looks like he's becoming the next Salo. F-ing BS. And Gillis has this sit back and do a little minor tweaking because its already a cup contender mentality. We need upgrades in many areas.
