bossram
This has been bugging me for literally years now... Why on Earth isn't AV pulling Lu for the shoot-outs? Luongo isn't just bad in shoot-outs - he's absolutely terrible. Just horrible. If the Canucks are in a tight game - and it goes to a shootout with Luongo in net - you can bet we lose. Virtually every single time. It's not even close. He can't stop shootout shooters. Like, at all. Ever. So, even though Schneider would be cold - wouldn't we be better off pulling Lu after overtime - and bringing Schneider, just for the shootout? We've been the best team in the NHL for years now - yet one of the worst at the shootout. Even with an ice-cold goalie, fresh off the bench, we've gotta have a better shot at winning than sticking with Luongo, don'tcha think?
Primus099
So, wait... I'm confused.... Luongo's been 'great' - but, at the same time, he's 'blown two 2-0 leads'? So, which is it? Has he been 'great' - or has he blown 2 nothing leads? Cause, it can't really be both....
MattJVD
Oh, so Schneider's 67% win percentage (vs. Luongo's 45%) should be ignored, due to a small sample size - but Luongo's shootout save percentage shouldn't be?
CanuckCup1316
I agree that Luongo has had a bad history in shootouts but not last night. If it wasnt for Luongo we dont get a single point yesterday. Our shooters should have been in this order: Schroeder, Kassian, Mason Raymond. Pears
O for 5 isn't that bad in shootouts (it's not that great, but it's not the end of the word either). 2 for 4 means you've lost two games (vs 0/5 shooting) and won none...

-DLC-
That wasn't Lu's fault...it was a beauty shot that he got scored on with. And our guys didn't score - is that his fault? If it wasn't for Lu, we wouldn't make it to some of the shootouts we've been in.
Ghostsof1915
I'd rather our players just practice shootouts...

Raspberries
How the blazes is it Luongo's fault that we couldn't score in the shootout? How the blazes is it Luongo's fault that AV chose to put in the worst player on the ice (Edler) in as a shooter?
CowtownCanuck
Pull Luongo with 1:30 to go in every period, he's going to let one in, and we have a better chance of scoring with the extra skater on the ice.
canucks_qc
You really want to put a cold goalie in net for the shootout, are you serious? I'm sure Schneider want to go in the shootout beeing cold risking a groin injury.
suolucidir
As usual I'm not sure what's worse - the OP is trolling, or legitimately this stupid.
73 Percent
You guys ALL seem to be forgetting that Luongo is a career LOSER in shootouts. And, not even close to 500. He's terrible. So, it doesn't matter if he stopped 2 of 3 tonight (the other goalie stopped 3 of 3). And, it doesn't matter if our shooters are sub-par (AV is picking guys like Edler to shoot in the top-3, not forwards who can score on breakaways). We are a top team, we are a top-scoring team, but we lose in shootouts - badly. And, it's (for the most part) because of the guy in net...
DooBie604
Well this pretty thread topic pretty much sums up how it doesn't matter how well a goalie plays, people will find a way to make it his fault and find a reason to drive our goalies out of town. Good luck Cory...I feel bad for what is eventually going to happen to you.
jono2009
So you have a goalie that had a great game last night, good job Lou, now you played great, but we are pulling you out for the shootout, cool? You can't swtich goalies for shootout.

jono2009
Do you mean you shouldn't? Because you can. It has been done.
Shift-4
OK. You shouldn't. How would that effect a goaltenders confidence?
Ginu
... not a good idea to put in a cold goalie in net for a so since these breakaways can be costly on the body if not warmed up properly... This game should have not gone to a SO as we did have a two goal lead which we blew once again... this is a coaching mistake along with a weak third period, again due to the coaching style... this dump and chase strategy just doesn't work not to mention we had our share of PP with no result... Cant blame Lu for the so loss, sorry...
