Garrison had a slow start due to a few factors. Lockout/9 Month layoff. New team and new System.

The Canucks system on D is very unique. The Caucks D are VERY active, press and pinch alot from the point with complete freedom. This takes time to adjust to. Most coaches do not allow this.

I said from day 1 that Garrison would regain his form over time. He has done this and has be arguably our best D man this season, after his slow start.

SOLID in his own end. Insanely good along the boards, great first look out of the zone, and obviously a howitzer from the point.

Don't forget he has done this, and is close to his goal pace of last season while seeing very little time on the 1st PP unit. Imagine if he was a mainstay on that unit like Edler is...

Most of the Canucks games are on Sportsnet Pacific, but most Saturdays are on CBC. TSN also carries some games. You will need a TV and a service provider to watch these games. You could go to a bar, because most bars have TVs that could be manipulated to project Canucks games.

I don't think booze is going to help either of them watch the games.

On a side note the guy quoted in your sig. So far this season he's been pretty much wrong about everything huh. :D

Yeah, it's not surprising that he was so wrong about almost everything, as he was only here to push people's buttons. His negativity was relentless, and I'm not surprised that he's eating crow in private. He wasn't exactly one to admit he was wrong.

Just re read this entire thread.

It is firm and clear that Joe_Shmo never knows what he is talking about on any given topic on the Canucks.

He references our overly ridiculously simple "system" (He also says that means AV), but fails to explain any of what that system is or how Garrison has a hard time fitting in to it.

AV has said a couple times that our system is based on first man in, 2nd man in, and so on, so if he cares to explain our system he could start there.

I'm not concerned at all.

regards,

G.

Skimmed through again as well.

Couldn't help but notice this one, posted about 25 consecutive times lol....

Lets buy him out in the offseason

Inept offensively

Inept physically

Inept defensively

Seriously I rather we keep Ballard, atleast he can skate like he ain't in quicksand

and then a whole lot of follow ups that resemble these...

why do we always take players from Florida only to get players a shell of their former self?

MG needs to stop!

This thread was made before he started playing even worse, he's hit another level of low.

He got paid 4.6 million in large part to being an offensive presence and threat. Blame Garrison or blame management for not doing their due diligence when it comes to scouting players. He needs to step it up

he's such a terrible skater and speedy teams destroy him.

For the folks always poopooing 'advanced' stats...

Here's what Garrison did in Florida:

Best relative corsi.

Strongest quality of competition two years running.

Two years ago he was a shutdown specialist as a rookie and despite primarily dzone starts had nearly an even corsi.

Last year as a hybrid shutdown/top pairing scoring blueliner, he scored at an impressive clip, and still shut down the opposition's best, while also providing a stay-at-home element for Campbell. In the process, he had the best underlying numbers on a good Florida Panthers team, and was a team best +6.. It would be fair to say they miss him.

It was a no-brainer why MG went after him - he proved over his first two seasons that he's exactly the kind of player we are now seeing in Vancouver.

Although Garrison has formed a very nice shutdown pair with Hamhuis, I would like to see an Edler-Garrison pairing. They both had pretty bad starts in the beginning of the season (Edler racking up points though), but now that they've found their game as of late maybe it's time to give that pairing a second chance?

Dark Knight usually doesn't know what he's talking about in regards to anything.

Yep. I asked him if he could ID or explain how the D are supposed to behave, and he sloughed it off as stating that he has posted about the systems many times before. Which is BS, otherwise id see some of the experienced coaches on CDC really take him to task (they do anyways.). He still attributes any bad play by defensemen as AVs deficiency, but more informed users know it is Bones systems that are implemented.

And G, is just frigging great. One of the few voices of reason on CDC.

The CDC player doghouse is really a shanty town of whiners that lie to each other about their own poor player assessment.

I will forever be amazed how folks cannot infer what a players underlying problem might be, other than "sucking" and further blabbering about how inept MG is.

On my good days i get the comedy.

On my bad days here, i am feelin a little McNulty:

Not a surprising comment from A Pathetic Fan.

I bet you think you're really clever for that one. What do you want me to say? Garrison is our saviour and is the best defencemen on our team? He's been solid for a month. But for the money he's been making I expect him to hit the net a little more often because 90% of the time he kills our momentum with his wide shots from the corner. Just being a realist.
