Do people even watch the games, do you even watch effort and execution?

Everyone is playing great, and trying hard, the system works and the execution isn't there because we're tired and it's 7 games in.

When your forward depth consists of a bottom 6 of

Ebbett, Schroeder, Weise, Volpatti, Lapierre, and Raymond how do you expect to dominantly win games?

You really think that bottom 6 is going to make us dominate teams like La and SJ?

Canucks fans are babies

The boys are tired and are going to need to play at 200% to even resemble what we were last year without Kesler and Booth.

To blame the system when we basically have a 1st line with a rookie and 3 3rd lines what do you expect?

Getting blown out in big games, as we have in MANY games in the playoffs, is the reason I blame the coaching staff. Not solely because of tonight.

Tired at 7 games in? Yikes.

If they're tired already, they're going to have a tough time winning the cup.

Tonight came down to strategy. It's pretty obvious. The more you sit back and let the other team enter your zone, the more chances they have to tie it up. That's just a given. Thinking you're safe with a 1 goal lead in the NHL is probably the dumbest thing you can do.

I agree with some of your points. We are tired, it is only six games into the season, and we're missing 2/3 of the second line. When our D is playing like we all know they can, and Kesler and Booth are back. We're right back the top of the NHL.

It seems like he doesn't care about the win in the shootouts, why doesn't he put Schroeder in? Edler got two or 3 lucky shots that one season, he hasn't scored since.

Edit: and yeah the strategy of sitting on the lead is retarded it never works....

You're right, AV is actually a damn good coach. When we had no one who could score to save their lives - everyone on this message board slammed AV for being a defense-first coach. Then, when Gillis got us some players who could score, everyone slammed him for other things, even though he completely changed his system to complement the players we had...

I could definitely see Grabner going. He seems to have done his best to play his way out the door (and Gillis seems to be the smartest GM we've ever had, so, put two and two together)...

Kesler and Booth are out wah wah wah wah wah. FIGURE IT OUT. LA and SJ both didn't play extraordinarily well, but both managed to beat us. Not because they had the better team, but because they were the more ready and prepared team.

Yeah what's with the dump and chase business? That's some bull if I've ever seen it. Rarely generates scoring chances for the Canucks; it usually goes right back to the opposition.

However, I don't think they should fire AV yet. I think with Kesler and Booth out, he's doing the best he can with what he's got. Higgens and Bieksa are nearly invisible, and they were solid point scorers last season. Burrows hasn't been too prominent. Really, Kassian is playing the hardest right now.

So it's not the coaches job to get the players prepared for a game?

Cool.

This has happened way too many times, not just this season but in the previous seasons where the Canucks have come unfocused and unmotivated. Even Ballard said himself yesterday that the team didn't come on the ice prepared. Tell me that the coaching was just supposed to stand there idly.

AV does not spark this team, and even after losses (the loss against anaheim) he apparently doesn't say anything. I don't know what's supposed to light a fire under our team's ass right now, but the coaching is certainly not cutting it.

Thank goodness you were here to point out some things.

I had NO IDEA the Canucks were being unfairly targeted by the schedule makers.
Good call on us being tired because of the gurelling schedule we've had up till this point. I mean we're nearly thru January & only had 3 home games. Damn this unfair schedule, and making us soooo tired.
A- we are 6 games in
B- there are 6 other teams in our conference who have played as many games as we have... a couple even in less games (we played opening night afterall)
C- they arent 55 yrs old I think. 3 games in 4 nights in the 2nd wk of the season shouldnt be TOO demanding, will they be tired by game 3? sure, but they were terrible the game before that too.

Theres probably 20 teams in the NHL that would be pleased to have Weise, Raymond, Schroeder, Ebbett, Lapierre or Malhotra in their bottom 6.

I'll agree we have a lot of fans who are babies... but it doesnt mean they are not right sometimes either. Also, accusing people of being babies, but crying foul that the players are tired... care to be the pot or the kettle?

So 2 players out of the line up, means every player on the roster needs to play 90% (assuming theyw ere all giving 110% already as I so often hear athletes do) harder now? So you are suggesting Kesler and Booth were both resonsible for a 920% each upgrade to our line ups? (90X16 +400 / 2). Hmmm, well, their production might disagree with that. But sure, we are weaker without them,..... not sure we are 1840% weaker however.

As for the question of the coaching. YES, I balem AV for our failings more than any of the players on most given nights. We've watched him get outmatched by the likes of Quenneville, Julien & Sutter over the years. Those were all teams with equal or less talent than us who beat us because our coach mismanaged the roster.
I think AV is a CAPABLE NHL coach, but not a championship coach.... which is what a team with this skill level should have & we dont.
