Laurie-Anne Manel said that she and her 15-year-old daughter Paige were staying at the Marriott Courtyard on Dalton Avenue on Friday night as Paige was competing in the Canada Cup fencing tournament at the Royal Military College.
She says that players from the Ontario Hockey League squad were acting rowdy and after she complained, turned it up a notch by body checking the door to her room and making their displeasure clearly known.
She also blames the incident for her daughter missing out on a chance to compete at the worlds.

I got kicked out of the slut walk for trying to bid on the participants.

Don't know what to think.

They're kids, if they were rowdy, well, "boys will be boys". But at the same time, they are representatives of a city and should conduct themselves as such.

That's what Dale Hunter said and the obsevation was made that if they are just kids why aren't they being supervised. Too bad for the girl but I think she should have went ahead anyways.

Is she 5, or 15? You might want to edit the title.

So they drove 14 hours to compete but she didn't even try to fence the next morning due to being 'fatigued'? I'm sure the guys were being too noisy and probably bugged them and others in the hotel, but it notes they settled down at 1am at least and that shouldn't be enough to make someone who thinks they're capable of making a World Cup tournament not compete.

Apparently she won a bronze a day later, so I don't get it.

Disrespectful and rude. Those kids need a babysitter, or a slap in the face.

People will always whine. She couldn't compete because she was tired???? That is a terrible excuse.

Maybe her daughter was fatigued from 'fencing' with the boys after she fell asleep.

Only if she was 15 (some of the guys are only 16/17).
If she was 5 that would be really wrong.

This is when details like this matter.

Says it all about the London Knights. Cheats, cads and all around embarrassments to the CHL.

I cannot deny that, though sweeping up 1st round picks that dont report to the teams that drafted them and other shady dealings help.

As someone who played with these types of people, a large percentage of hockey players are sh**heads that essentially need to be on a leash from cradle to grave. Then the majority are essentially clueless social sheep genuinely unable to control themselves and get riled up by the first group. Some teams are lucky in that they for whatever reason lack the first group, so the second group rarely gets riled up. I agree with the other posters, someone needs to be supervising them. It does not matter what the outcome was for the girl. You don't behave this way in public at the expense of other people, regardless of if they have to get up at 5 a.m. to compete, etc. Sadly because these are athletes/young males people will make excuses for them much like middle America does for their football players. "Boy's will be boy's" should cover things like jumping off a bridge into shallow water, not harassing someone in a hotel room. Do whatever the hell you want to yourself, but don't show such a callous disregard for others.

Sounds like an excuse. Say what you want, but the Knights can be immature like any guy their age, but they do alot more community work than most their age do.

Besides, London is a party town. They're just meeting the standards, they learned from the best (Brandon Prust).
