Showcase :bigblush:

That's what I'm hoping the reason is. I hate to see Luongo go, but I can't think of any other reason why AV would start Luongo tonight

So lets say Today we were playing the blackhawks, and on Friday we were playing the Av's.

Uhhh you do realize who we're playing Friday right?

Lui plays the Avs as a possible swan song shutout effort. I predicted a trade by the 10 - 15 game deadline but that can change. He played well enough to get a shutout the other night. He wins the game and gets to say goodbye to the Van fans.

CS would play the Hawks game anyways.

Lu is starting tonight because he earned it. That's a Bs excuse... it's not like it's a back to back start. If shneids had outplayed Lu he would get both starts.

I think Roberto is starting this game because they wan't to test how Cory will do against a likely playoff opponent in Chicago.

Cory is the guy going forward, Luongo has been better, and this is a "filler" game. If I were a CS fan I'd be more upset if Luongo started the hawks game on Friday.

RELAX

Or is he protecting Lou from Chicago?
It's speculation any way you look at it, as none of is privy to AV's process.
Personally, I'm just a tiny bit concerned, as building confidence has as much if not more to do with how you handle adversity as opposed to how you handle success. CS needs to win or lose on his own merits. That's how character is built. It's also eerily similar to giving Lou the C, signing him up for a decade and giving him a NTC only to pull him 3 games straight. Consistency is the key to greatness. AV seems to sometimes just flip a coin. At least he's consistent in that regard.

Snake Doctor, on 23 May 2014 - 10:41 AM, said:snapback.png

Miller is not on our list. It's Lack as our #1. There is no reason we would have traded both Schnieder and Luongo if we never intended to give Lack the #1 starting job.  Furthermore, the salary and term Miller is looking for is not in our favor.

Schneider is 4-0-0 in 4 starts against the AVs with a .65GAA and hasn't allowed a goal in his last 155 minutes against the AVs.
Last game he had a 43 save 1-0 victory over them,.

Makes sense to sit him when a vcitory is crucial at this point.

Are they showcasing him for the AVs? Maybe O'Reilly is the mystery player on the mystery team?

If Lou kicks their ass, they'll know they need him.

Can't blame Cory too much for Sharks game. That was two bad giveaways by garrison and edler. Plus sharks is one if the best teams right now.

Hopefully Lu gets a win tonight and help his trade value. Avs should be easy

Now that wouldn't surprise me. But what's the deal? Luongo for the rights to negotiate with O'Reilly? Avs would have to sign and trade... otherwise, I am not taking that deal.

LOLOL it's not an excuse, unquestionably, Lou has earned it I'vedefended theguy scince he got here. Im saying Cory will eventually be the starter here, and it looks like management want's to test him against a real threat.
He is only 1 - 2 in the playoffs

What does it prove if CS goes and gets a shutout against a bottom 3 team in the west, then Roberto goes and has agreat game against CHI?

Yah it has nothing to do with the Vancouver/Toronoto media trying to create a story to rile up the fans who follow like sheep to whatever their favorite columnist/analyst/sportscaster tells them to think. Its all AVs fault, its not like he's ever won an award for being the best at what he does or anything, he just destroys all young talent ever handed to him

Wait...the Toronto media are responsible for AV's irrational decisions? And oooooooooo he won an award one year.

And if you don't know AV' history with other young players like Shirokov, unnessesarily causing friction, publically doubting effort, refusing to give ice time even though they've earned it....Poor Shroeder, drafted to play under such a megalomaniac.

Your Precious Lu? Maybe you're a brand new Canucks fan so your ignorance can be excused, but Luongo helped bring the Canucks from a middle of the pack team struggling to make the playoffs to an elite force in NHL challenging for the Presidents trophy and the Stanley cup each year. So show some respect or STFU!

Lu is being showcased for possible trades. Colorado has potential to make him look good. Leaving Cory to face the red-hot Blackhawks on Friday. Playing your back-up against weak teams so your starter is sharp and ready for to face the top team in the league is pretty standard practice.

Even on the weekend, the media tried to make so much out of Luongo playing the defending SC champs. But in reality, the Sharks were demolishing teams, and the Kings struggling, so Canucks played their starter against the better team, and deferred to the back-up for the weaker one. That's what teams do when they have back-to-backs, isn't it?

Schnides getting the privilege to rest this much early on is a huge advantage over other starters in the league. The organization may be thinking they won't have this Tandum all season and are taking advantage of it well they can. And seriously people who talk il of luongo obviously are "new" Canuck fans that didn't see how he came in and turned this franchise around. All I can say is I love this situation were in a lot more than being in the situation when we had cloutier and auld. Those boys couldn't pack either of these goalies jock straps!

AV adding to the controversy and messing with Cory's confidence.

When Lu was the starter, he was given numerous bad games to work through it.

AV is handling Cory like he did Hodgson, Linden, Naslund.

What an A$$

AV is the one who pretty much made Luongo the back up when he went with Schnieder in the playoffs last year. That sounds like a coach who is confident with Schnieder when he uses him in the biggest games of the season. Relax.

If Luongo plays solid again, keep playing him till he has an average game. We all know and have seen including last season, Luongo gets on fairly good and long streaks of playing solid hockey.

Lu played the last game. Why do some of you think that Cory couldn't play in both the Avs game and the Hawks game? AV doesn't have to choose. Schneider needs to get into a rhythm.

At least there's a silver lining in that IF Lu plays well, his trade value will only go up and the process speeded up.
