As long as he is 100% and they give him time to get his legs back.... I hate to see something like a groin injury set him back further.

I am ok waiting for a healthy Kes, the boys have carried the load pretty well so far :)

But.... I can't help but think how this will change the lineups (drool)

Sedins, Kass
Higgins, Kes, Burrows
Mayray, Schroeds, Hansen
Patti, Manny, Lappy

Hansen might be more deserving of the second line...him and Higgy are interchangeable. But, these guys will all play their natural sides and the scoring should be pretty balanced :)

Hey, I know Damien Cox is crap but there's no reason to put this information out there if it lines up so well with what Gillis said. Even if it's only speculation, it's still something.

Gillis just said he has no idea where Damien Cox got that, so I call BS. He also mentioned "March, April" when talking about making sure Kesler has to be 100% before coming back.

Who cares Kesler will return too early and be injured no matter when it is.

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

As long as he's 110% and has absolutely no risk of injuring anything, then it's fine.

I don't care if he has to sit this entire season if that means we get him healthy for the start of next season, STOP COMING BACK EARLY! ;)

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. You just have to be better than the guy across from you... Every guy in this locker room I can say believes we can do this." - Ryan Kesler

We might have Booth back before Kesler at this rate.

I'm looking at March at the earliest for Kes if he's returning 100%.

Hope I'm wrong and see him in February.

Didn't see a thread about this. From a Leafs beat writer, but I don't see any reason to lie about this. Lines up with Gillis's estimation pretty well.

Yeah it was posted last night in the Injuries and Ice Chips thread:

Damien Cox@DamoSpin
Sense is Ryan Kesler will be back in two weeks

Certainly fits the timeline Gillis had already talked about a little while back, with Kesler being back with the team in 7-10 days. Once he's skating in full practices, he'll need a few weeks to get his timing back and work towards game shape.

Sounds like he'll only play once he feels comfortable, so it may take a little longer, but I don't see it being the end of the season or anything if he's progressing to skating with the team at this point.

From the horses mouth

"Damien cox on Kesler - I'm not sure where that came from. it may or may not be accurate. We're going to be very careful with Ryan. We need to make sure he's firing on all cylinders. He will tell us when hes ready to play"

seriously. Plus why would fans rag on him this is a guy that wants to do his best to help this team. He screwed up last year. He knows this. He'll come back when he's ready. And, get ready, he's going to be rusty so be ok with that! But hopefully he'll hit his stride right into playoffs.

you can tell we miss his presence.
