We already knew that Allaire had been working with Luongo in the summer - he does every year. It'd certainly been talked about in the other Luongo threads with all the reports of him working out in Florida during the lockout.

I would have hoped for some insight into why this offseason was different and allowed Luongo to start as well as he has. Perhaps it's just the way the cards have fallen.

I would have hoped for some insight into why this offseason was different and allowed Luongo to start as well as he has. Perhaps it's just the way the cards have fallen.

It's often good for a person to have a different coaching perspectives for a little while. Often, while under a single coach, what can happen is a person can get stale and need a fresh perspective. After that, they can resume with their old coach and continue.

But of course Luongo was elite. Are we only remembering that now?

The dude will be remembered as a top 10 goalie, ever, by the time he retires. Over the last decade he has been consistantly great. He might be the most consistent goalie from season to season other than Brodeur. Miller wins the Vezina... Then plays relatively terrible. [insert Nashville goalie] plays great until moved. Luongo has been top 10 in save percentage for the last 7ish (or 6 of 7) years (cant remember exactly). A couple of cup wins, here or elsewhere, will erase any "choker" status he has.
