This article is from Renaud Lavoie (insider for french equivalent of TSN). I translated it in google and modified some of the worst translation from google.

Since it's not trade related, I started a new post. Hope it's ok.

"What do the best two goalies (so far this season) have in common? A goaltending coach name François Allaire.

Indeed, Craig Anderson of the Ottawa Senators and Roberto Luongo Vancouver Canucks have worked for two months with François Allaire. Four days per week, for 90 minutes per day, François Allaire made them work in the arena of South Florida.

Obviously the Canucks and Senators are very happy to see the performance of the goalies, while during the lockout, it was impossible for coaches to communicate with their players, let alone spend time on the ice them.

François Allaire is no longer with the Maple Leafs, has thus ensured that Anderson and Luongo would start the season strong. I talked to him on the phone Thursday and he confessed that he loved working with them. "Roberto and Craig did not know each other, but overall it was a very good team(all three of them). The chemistry was good and we had five shooters on the ice. Says, they worked very hard. '

So from November until 15 January, the three men spent a lot of time together. A week before the start of training camps, Jean-Sébastien Giguère of the Avalanche has also joined the group.

François Allaire did not know much Craig Anderson, but is not surprised by his results, he who is first among goalies (4 games and more) on the side of the average (0.99) and save percentage is 967% "He has phenomenal statistics and he wanted a good start because he had to compete internally, while the goalies of farm club Senators had much success. It has an excellent skating which is very important for the basic positioning. "

In the case of Roberto Luongo's goaltending coach in Vancouver, Roland Melanson, pointed out to me in training camp how he was in splendid form. According to François Allaire, Luongo (average of 1.61 and save percentage of .938%) was very motivated on the ice. "He wanted to be in top shape for the start of training camp. Normally, his debut season are slower, so he is ahead now because he's really close to his cruising speed. '

ALLAIRE WANTS MORE TEACHING

For his part, François Allaire admitted he still had the desire to teach, so he is ready to return to the NHL. Thursday evening, he will see his first game this season, that between the Jets and Panthers.

Remember, he decided not to return to the Maple Leafs, while his contract was to expire July 1, 2012. That said, he was very proud of what he has done with the Leafs. "We produced three NHL goalies in the last three seasons. The Maple Leafs had not built a single goalie since 1993. "One statistic that says it all."

We already knew that Allaire had been working with Luongo in the summer - he does every year. It'd certainly been talked about in the other Luongo threads with all the reports of him working out in Florida during the lockout.

I would have hoped for some insight into why this offseason was different and allowed Luongo to start as well as he has. Perhaps it's just the way the cards have fallen.

It's often good for a person to have a different coaching perspectives for a little while. Often, while under a single coach, what can happen is a person can get stale and need a fresh perspective. After that, they can resume with their old coach and continue.

But of course Luongo was elite. Are we only remembering that now?

The dude will be remembered as a top 10 goalie, ever, by the time he retires. Over the last decade he has been consistantly great. He might be the most consistent goalie from season to season other than Brodeur. Miller wins the Vezina... Then plays relatively terrible. [insert Nashville goalie] plays great until moved. Luongo has been top 10 in save percentage for the last 7ish (or 6 of 7) years (cant remember exactly). A couple of cup wins, here or elsewhere, will erase any "choker" status he has.
