Good, maybe it will light a fire under his ass so he realizes that a job isn't just handed to him, he has to earn it.

Lu's real test will be tonight's game. The hawks are a good team. Although he's been solid he hasn't faced a tough team this season as in Sharks or Hawks calibre.

This is based on the San Jose lost that you say he hasn't deserved playing? I think the whole team defensively wasn't good. You've seen the giveaways right?

I'm fine with either goalie playing at this point. I haven't seen enough games to say none of them deserve playing.

Kinda sucks for Schneider because he won't be able to play at home for another week because Canucks go on the road after this game.

As a long-time fan, all I can do is laugh at this situation and how the fans and media are taking it.

We've had virtually nothing but crap for goaltending for decades, and now we have this supposed 'problem' involving having too much quality goaltending?

"OMG! We're messing with their heads! Meanwhile they're both playing awesomely! Aaaiieeee! Jump off the Lions Gate!"

Hahahahaha.

I agree and I appreciate you for not putting a Z at the end of OMG

I didn't say he doesn't deserve to play or that it is his fault for the turnovers. The home opener against the Ducks was pretty rough to watch too. But Luongo has been playing better, posting better numbers.

You guys think he is mad at Luongo and AV or mad at the media for blowing this crap out of proportion.

I don't mind the idea of keeping the 2 goalies but you have to admit this media circus would wear on a guy.

The media is no where as bad as the stupidity of this forum. Either goaltender could have started tonight and the Canuck would take heat.

Well Luongo is relaxed now and getting it done but just wait. When you have 2 top rated goalies you should alternate, but AV loves #1. We need AV and his buddy coach fired, and Iron Mike brought in to coach

Luongo a future hall of famer? Unless he has a few more years where he put up unreal numbers and earns some hardware not likely.

It is possible for Luongo to be #3 all time for wins. You are telling me he is not worth mentioning for hall of fame? If Luo retires or just sucks from here on out then no he is not going to make it in. However, if he puts up even 4 years of 40 wins he is going to be mentioned for hall of fame. If he gets some good hardware in those years, he is in for sure.

I don't get it

Because we lacked good goal tending in the 80s, we should be happy with our joke of a situation right now?

You don't view our goalie situation as a problem, especially with how (in)consistently the team in FRONT of the goalie is playing?

Where can I watch it? A buncha people on my facebook says he seems pissed off in his latest interview, I couldn't find it on Canucks TV or w.e though.

Any way I can hear the interview? Or do they have to put it up still?

How does a thread about a Schnieder interview turn into a Luongo hall of fame blog?

It'd be pretty annoying if your predecessor had numerous chances to play every night even if he had an bad game previously for years--then you get your shot as a starter finally after a long time, much longer than most goalies to finally earn your spot--and you don't get remotely the same courtesy.

I'm not saying we shouldn't play the hot goalie, just pointing out that Luongo was on a way, way longer leash. From Schneider's perspective, he's understandably irritated at the situation since he isn't being treated the same way. I'm sure he gets 10000 questions a day about the situation too so that's probably annoying as well. He'll get over it though, he's a professional.

Lou didn't play any better in the LA game then Cory did in the SJ game and Lou didn't win the LA game to top it off so the avalanche game should have been Cory's. it's hard not to look good playing vs. Colorado so it was more or less set up that the golie that played the avalanche would play Chicago.

I think Lou should get the start vs. Chicago because he just played a good game but Cory would have played well vs. the avalanche as well.
I still think this is just showcasing Lou and in time we will see but if its not then AV is making a mess of things and pissing off Cory.

Lets think about why Lou is being traded.... Playoff flops.... We all know Lou plays well in the regular season. If its not showcasing AV is making a huge mistake pissing off Cory. Cory has a right to be pissed as well he signed with the Canucks when he didn't have to because Lou had asked for a trade and MG said he would trade him.

how would you feel if the only question you are ever asked is about your teammate? ask the same question over and over..eventually you will get an agitated response.

This. I'm all for keeping Lu around for the time being, but when it matters we need Schneider in net. The team (especially Bieksa) has said they play better in front of Schneider.

Right, that's why why AV is screwing things up if its not showcasing Lou for a trade.

I pulled this from another topic, d-mony posted it.

This is nothing new or relevatory - Luongo has played well every regular season. However, when it's mattered most, he's had a full blown meltdown at the end of every year since 2006-07.

2007-08 - Last 6 games: 4.59 GAA, 0.837 Sv%
2008-09 - Last 6 games: 3.31 GAA, 0.879 Sv%
2009-10 - Last 6 games: 3.52 GAA, 0.897 Sv%
2010-11 - Last 6 games: 4.12 GAA, 0.864 Sv%

So if the goal is to rack up Presidents Trophies, then by all means, keep him and trade Schneider. But for me...I'd like to try something different.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be interviewed by a Buncha blood thirsty wolves. You could see that they smelled blood. They saw the frustration and exploited it.

That sucks.

Even Schneider said he would like AV to tell him personally if he's not playing.

Wtf is wrong with our coach? He's pretty unprofessional is you ask me.

He's treated Linden, Naslund, M. Schneider, Hodgson, Wellwood, Shirikov etc, like crap. Notice that these players are mostly skilled players?

He's obsessed with his favorite grinders and is ego is way too big, can't stand this guy.

COry is 27 and has been the consumate patient/team guy. Last summer he could have chased teh FA spending frenzy and would have likely got more money and a guaranteed starter job somewhere. Obviously, MG convinced him he was going to be the guy here and based on what Luy was saying and that MG had LU on the market, why would he think it wasn't true.

He has had to watch his college/junior competition (Quick) become an NHL star and garner accolades while he has played 2nd fiddle to Lu.

Now, after all that, he finds himself in no-man's land again.

Of course he's P'd!!

If AV continues down this path, Cory will ask for a trade, guaranteed. He won't do it publicly like Lu but he will make it clear to MG he wants out...he may already have done so.

Like Trevor Linden said yesterday, there is no way Vancouver can keep both these guys as it will become a bigger and bigger controversy and distraction in the room.

He short sighted, it's all about the next game. At the end of last season did he work on playoff lines? No he just wanted the PT, no thought went into peeping for the playoffs. Same thing here the team wants to go with Cory, to piss him off at the start of the season can't help things in the long run. Makes you wonder if he needs to go.

I hope he's not pissed. That would mean within a few weeks of being the 'starter' he's already let the media and pressure get to him and he's not much of a team player.
