Long story short, some 17 year old N driver rear ended me. I need a new rear bumper. I'm looking for a good shop that knows their stuff. I drive a 2009 g37 sedan. I'm thinking of going with a kit instead of OEM. looking for a good place that might be able to help me out. Thanks.

ICBC isn't going to pay for aftermarket parts strictly OEM.

Go with Craftsmen collision.

They do pay for it, if you pay the difference...
I'm anywhere in GVA..

edit, at least that was what happened to me before, mind you that was 10 years ago

Lots of shops do a crappy job and you may not know for years when the clear coat starts to peel and the paint no longer matches.

Talk to a Nissan dealer and have them recommend one.

unless things have changed.......

He can always just pay ICBC instead of it going onto his insurance and he wont be looking at higher premiums because of the accident. It wont be considered a claim.

Did you at least write down his license plate and driver's license and all that? I want him to get points deducted on his driver's license so we don't see more of those drivers

You still report it to ICBC...the option is up to you and him whether it goes against his insurance or is paid directly. But at least it will be on record.

I was 17 only a few years ago, yet I got my N and Class-5 first try without any deductions?

It's a pretty broad proud statement that "all" teenagers are bad drivers, or at least those who are 17 years old.

Yeah, in terms of a the claim, I sent a claim to ICBC. The following day ICBC called me and told me the other driver has also made a claim so my deducable will be waived.

As for the repairs, I tried calling the dealer to get a recommendation. I left messages to a number of repair shops over the weekend, only ONE was able to call me back. Automind in Burnaby.

I figured if the other places don't want my business I won't give it to them.

Automind guys seemed nice over the phone, I'll be taking my car in on Fri for the estimate.

Excellent. Going thru ICBC is not a bad move. As far as the repairs, cheaper isn't always a better deal. Good luck.

Edit.

I'm not surprised that places didn't return your call. In their business they need to see the vehicle, they can't do fa over the phone. Try to get a feel for the place you take it to and look for high end cars in their shop. Maserati's etc.

Just go to one of those Surrey chop shops and get an exact OEM bumper for less than $20. Then go to an Asian auto body shop and give them another $20 cash to install it.

I have never gotten into an accident in my 11 years of driving. Not all teenage drivers are bad.
