Canucks have to re-consider the possibility of moving Cory Schneider? Don't they?

8 games in and most people here are wanting to dump Schneider. I don't want to see him evaluated after 4 games. Luongo has been playing well, as he usually does during the regular season. The lack of pressure on him is an interesting angle, as 'the pressure' situation is a long time Luongo discussion.

There's a good chance that Lu wants to be traded.

It's interesting that the Lu supporters seem to think he is the better goalie, but think that Schneids would get a much better return. ???

When I saw Lu lose his stick and bellyflop in the Chicago game, it brought back some bad memories. Those habits have been the theme of a drinking game in my neighbourhood pub.

Schneider is the far superior goaltender in every facet of the game. He has had 1 bad game (Anaheim) in 2 years, maybe the Nashville game last yr. What is overlooked is the complete attention to defence the team plays in front of Luongo....scared to give up any kind of scoring chance.

It was the same last year. Roberto's played well the past few games. But, can you name more than 1 or 2 difficult saves ? the team simply doesn't give up scoring opportunities with him in the net. Even the Hawk goal on Friday he was flailing around for no reason. Think the Kings goals were tuff saves ? Colorado had no good scoring chances...almost whiifed on that early one off his handle.

I wish they would package Luongo(and ??) and find someone who can put the puck in the net on a consistent basis. This team hasn't had an elite "goal scorer" in a long time. Kessel would be great...

Come playoffs, when everyone pays the same attention to D as we do, TALENT is needed to get some goals. This deficiency needs to be addressed or we will have another quick exit this Spring

It takes a whole team to win. The idea of blaming the goalies is absurb. Both are excellent and we should keep both alternating each game. I just feel that Lou should be able to name his own goalie coach. Someone who knows his natural traits and does not try to change them.

In all reality it will be Luongo who will be dealt, Gillis has left himself with no other option. It would be a PR nightmare in addition to the poor message it sends to the team.

However, IMO you keep Lou for the following reasons:

1. Schneider would be easier to deal

2. Schneider would bring back more, making the team better overall

3. Lou is a class act and consummate professional. Not to say Cory isn't, but Lou's the type of guy you want on the team,

4. The quality of play between the two goalies is very close.

Don't think anyone could object to the fact that the last six games a team plays in the playoffs are the most important. Take a look at Lou's, it's not good. They are moving Lou because he has a tendency to fold in the playoffs. It's mind boggling that Lou plays well in the regular season (he has done so every year) and some of you forget the past.

Thee who forgets the past is doomed to repeat it.

2007-08 - Last 6 games: 4.59 GAA, 0.837 Sv%

2008-09 - Last 6 games: 3.31 GAA, 0.879 Sv%

2009-10 - Last 6 games: 3.52 GAA, 0.897 Sv%

2010-11 - Last 6 games: 4.12 GAA, 0.864 Sv%

First of all, why with all the change of heart. Because luongo has had a few decent games. Well know one has ever doubted that Luongo is a great talent. The fact that he's been playing good should not be a surprise. So again I ask why the change of heart.

Second why would Luongo want to stay here. He is constantly treated like garbage. He's had a few decent games this year and everything seems to be going good, just wait till he has one bad game, everyone will be jumping ship once again and calling for his head. He doesn't deserve that.

Third point. Has luongo played better than cory this year? Luongo hasn't had to stand on his head to win us any games. Emery stole CHI two points against the flames and Luongo hasn't had to bring that type of play yet. He's played good made some decent saves but is yet to stand on his head in a game. Take Corys first game out of the picture. His GAA is 1.66 and he hasn't played bad at all. The SJ game should have been 8-1 the way the rest of the team played.

So finally, think to your self, Why were originally going to trade Lou and keep cory? Luongo's poor performances in games that matter, Luongo's long contract, and Luongos age difference to corys. Was is that we thought cory is a better goalie? No, if anything Luo may be a bit better due to his experience but Cory long term is the way smarter option with far more upside. We need to stop thinking about win now at the cost of the teams future.

The Canucks would consider moving any player if brought the team the right return they are looking for. GM Mike Gillis has mentioned he is happy with his team's goaltenders, will wait on any deal until the right return is there or he will not make a move.

Luongo can let in 6 goals next time and as fans here are over the top in terms of being reactionary lol....the fans will sing the praises of Schneider.

Teams evaluate players over a pro-longed period of time, based on scouting, experience, and potential....Luongo playing well to start the season or Schneider earning a shutout don't make other teams suddenly want or not want an asset. Luongo is the more valuable asset in terms of netminders based on his body of work and his resume.

Canucks don't have to make any move...simply put they don't. To accomodate Luongo as Schneider develops they will explore their options in a possible move.

2007-2008 - LOL, Luongo had the crappiest team i've ever seen in front of him. Brad Isbister, Byron Richie.. And Krajicek in the top 4. You honestly expected him to do well?

2008-2009/2009-2010 - Played against one of the best rosters this century. Stupid arguement, Chicago's team was beyond better than ours.

2010-2011 - .914 S%, 2.56 GA, 4 SO. Single-handedly won us Game 7 vs Chicago, Game 5 vs Sharks, 2 SO in SCF, out-played Pekka Rinne, even tough Rinne had the better team defensively.

Because of the new additions to the team and the los of Kes and Booth, AV has the tem playing a trap system. Against Chicago, they completely took away the rush speed of the Haeks with 5 guys back behind the red line and no effort at all to press in the offensive zone.

The team needed a few games to get that system working and has shown they can play that way in the last 3-4 games. Prior to that, they were a defensive zone disaster.

Just as it did for Brodeur, that system compliments the goalie and makes their stats look impressive. Most of Lu's big saves have been from fairly far out. Much farther than the 2 cough-ups from Edler and Garrison in the SJS game and Lu had time to set up.

It is a shame that so many are already looking to re-establish Lu as the #1 after 4 games when the Anaheim game would have been a blow out had Cory not stood on his head for the first 10 minutes and turned that into a shut out performance.

I have to believe it isn't so much about what is best for the team short-term or long-term but that many have chosen a goalie they like and simply want to be proven right. It feels like a mob-mentality on here the way the mood swings depending on a few performances. WIn and you are God and the other guy has to go. Lose and they want to burn you at the stake.
