Dare to dream about OV. Who knows, let's all remember if the great one could be traded, so could anyone else.

Lui, Ballard, Burrows, and a first would be fair IMO

Since when do star goalies fetch borderline top 6 forwards??

Brouwer + Kuznetsov

Brouwer--->Adds toughness, and physicality to our top 9
Kuznetsov--->Elite level prospect who should come over to N.America next season

With Brouwer:

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Booth-Kesler-Burrows
Higgins-Schroeder-Brouwer
Volpatti-Lapierre-Hansen

With both Kuz, and Brouwer next season:

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Booth-Kesler-Kuznetsov
Higgins-Burrows-Brouwer
Volpatti-Lapierre-Hansen

Washington has just about anything we could want from a trade.
They have some great prospects (Wilson, Forsberg, Kuznetsov).
They have some players who would be a huge addition to our forward core (Johansson, Brouwer).
And They have some great young defence men (Carlson, Alzner, Orlov).
Theres a lot of combinations of good talent that we could get in return.

They are checking out Holtby.

Luongo for Forsberg, Holtby and maybe Orlov since Ballard will likely be bought out next year (cap reasons)

This deal makes most sense. Washington won't want their roster to get worse to add another goalie. Canucks get their young centre and probable future #1

For Holtby letting in 2 brutal goals in 37 seconds and they didn't pull Holtby, my gut is they are checking Holtby out

It's a smokescreen to drive up the value of Luongo. Gillis wants the Schenn's for Luongo, Ballard, and a 1st.

Watching the Pens/Caps game now. Holtby just is not cutting it for the Capitals and Neuvirth isn't much better. I can't see Gillis/Gillman not being there because of a potential trade involving one of our goalies.

Good news!! I'm hoping we do a deal with Washington

I think Lu would waive his NTC to go to both teams but I have a feeling if Luongo went to Pittsburgh...it would be an instant-cup. There would be way too much skill to not win a cup, and Luongo is WAAAY better than both Fleury and Vokoun

He'd be good in Washington too, and I like Washington's players, but Johannsen is too soft, I'd do:
To VAN-Kuznetsov, Brouwer/Laich
To WASH-Lu

Like i've mentioned before Kuznetsov is unreal good with a superstar potential. Only thing is I don't see him coming to play for the canucks. He himself said that if Ovechkin, Datzyuk, and Kovalchuk weren't in the NHL he wouldn't even consider coming over. So I definately think him playing with Ovechkin is a big drving force to make the transition to the NHL

Plus he just resigned his KHL contract for another 2 years in the summer since he felt he had a better chance at making the Olympic team if he stayed in Russia. He is a great player with a huge upside, I just don't see him ever wanting to come to play with vancouver.

Forsberg may not have the top end potential as Kuznetsov but I think he'd be a better fit with our team and less risk. It would really suck to give luongo up for a player that may never play a game in the NHL.

We aren't getting Ovechkin
As much as I like him, unless he reverts back to his old form, he has one of the worst contracts in the league. If he did go back to his old self, Washington wouldn't even consider trade him, and I doubt they would anyways as he is still the face of their franchise.

They then traveled to LA and saw a Lakers game.

Queue the Schneider for Kobe threads

If tomorrow night's game was in LA then there is nothing special to see the GM and Asst GM taking in a Lakers game.

If tomorrow's game is across the continent and 3 time zones away, then common sense dictates MG and Gillman aren't out on a date.

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Booth-Kesler-Kuznetsov

Volpatti-Lapierre-Hansen

First line-up: I like, other than having Schroeder in the line-up over Weise and Raymond. Send Schroeder down. Raymond in the press-box. Weise in the line-up.

Second line-up: Disagree with putting an un-known Kuznetsov directly in the top-6, especially if it means demoting burrows to the third line.

You won't get Forsberg. Kuznetsov won't come over for at least 2 years if at all.

I'd be happy with one of MoJo, Carlsson or Kalzner.

+ a veteran roster player like Brouwer.

Kuznetsov will definetly be in the top 6. He's a big, strong and very skilled centerman. Only thing is Kuznetsov won't come over next year as he's signed with KHL.

I highly doubt Washington will be willing to make their current NHL roster worse to add Luongo. They are in a win now mentality feeling the pressure. You'll get Forsberg before getting Carlson or Alzner

Kesler was lucky to score 20 this year since the injury to Morrison allowed him to do so.

I doubt Kesler would ever break 15 goals in his career again.

MG won't take the risk with a Russian, he won't sacrifice Luongo for a guy who may never come to the NHL.

No to Ovi.....Some of you are just a laugh!

His contract is bad? Have some perspective people. Not too long ago he was a superstar scoring 50+ goals and 100+ points every year. Of course he got signed to money like that. Nobody, not even the smartest GM in the world, could have forseen this sudden plummet by Ovechkin and his other star teammates.

If Gillis had a chance to land a player the calibre of Ovechkin, he should pull the trigger. Those wanting a grinder like Troy bleepin' Brouwer or ANOTHER defenseman that we don't need are just....I'm not even going there. Get your heads checked.

I believe Brouwer would be an excellent fit on this team. I also believe the bad blood between him and the Canucks would be buried.

Luongo is playing amazing. Unless trading Luongo brought a huge return, don't trade Luongo.

Marcus Johansson and Holtby I can realistically see coming over. Johansson's had a rough start to the year and we get a solid young back-up for now. Johansson is big and young as well two characteristics MG apparently wants to add to this team. Who knows, we'd probably also get Brouwer just for cap reasons. Either way that team over in DC has some serious issues right now and if a team ever needed a big shake-up/ wake-up call I'd say this would be the team. They are far too talented to be playing this horrible.
