It's clear who's team this is still and who is the number 1 still. MG in WSH, may not be looking for players for Lui, rather Schneider.

No. We're not going to keep making new threads every time we find out the starter. No.

Either that, or be on his way to Washington.

Excellent news.

Either that, or be on his way to Washington.

You mean Schneider.

Well, he's definitely earned it. It's his job to lose now.

Even before Lack got injured and Luongo started playing so well, I said he will only be traded at the trade deadline, if he gets traded at all. Now I think it's cemented that he's staying the 2012-13 season. Depending on how well he, Schneider, and the team do, who knows how the Canucks future in net will look.

schneider is the future has more years left in him luongo needs to be moved in the off season his time is closing and will soon be past his prime then we have to deal with an aging goalie also 8 games in doesn't change the plans for gillis to trade luongo

I think Lu has proved again, he is an elite goalie that can come up big in big games. Played unreal vs the hawks, and one of his biggest weaknesses the shootout, he shutout the high offense skillful blackhawks in the shootout.

What do you mean?

Luongo's an elite goalie, he doesn't decline like the average goaltender in the league.

He's one of the best and there's no doubt in my mind that this guy can power through to 40 like Brodeur.

sure about that? I don't think in his plans he had Lu starting 5 games to Schneider's 4 this early in the season. Good GM's adapt their plans, his plan is to to trade who ever can get the best return to make our team better.

But that would make far to much sense. For some reason people only like to think about this year, and not a day past that. Heck people like make that judgement based on only 4 games.

Or maybe the fact that this is a 48 game season... and the fact that Luongo is 2nd in save percentage and 2nd in goals against in the league... that AV decided he gives us the best chance to win.

Goalies like Lu are not just average goalies that decline. Thomas won his job back and the cup at age 36. He didn't decline, rather increased. Brodeur just took his team to the SCF again at age 40.

So do Hasek, Joseph, Belfour, Roy, etc etc.

Not saying Luongo is necessarily on that level, but most of the "elite" goalies of the past 20 years played at a high level well into their mid-late 30s.

Let me get this straight..

It seems as if most people want Schneider to start JUST because he is our FUTURE? I call bull! You play the goalie that gives you a BETTER chance to win.. Right now, that is BOBBY LUO!

I could see AV starting Schneids, getting a loss, and people on CDC going crazy. Nothing can please most of you!

So quit your b!tch!ing!

When GM MG said there was a possible deal in place but for a player nobody thought....could it be Ginger?

Realistaclly the amount of crap the media has shot at Luongo and the controversy they created he is most likely to be dealt, even though IMO it's a major mistake.
I don't blame the fans (well some of you) but after hearing 18,000+ singing Lou's name the other night it is plain to see that the majority of Canucks fans think trading him is a mistake as well.

Glad to see Luongo is not going to give up HIS team as easily as everyone thought, and this is HIS team until he is traded.

Exactly.

We're obviously riding the hot goaltender like we have been doing for a while now. When we are winning, we are winning. Plus, it's a great way to showcase that Lou still has what it takes and it raises his value big time for the eventual trade.

schneider is 26

luongo is 33 soon to be 34

so at best luongo has 6 years left in him if he does play til 40 now whether he stays as good as brodeur in his old age nobody knows

schneider if you consider luongo playing til 40 he has 14 years left in him still and is just entering his prime right now he is the future its as simple as that its not a bash against luongo its about who has more left in the tank

my bad about the age even better that he is younger than what i thought

Ok stop with the showcasing. He is not a rookie, he is an over 10year great goalie. And now he showed he can come big against the top teams. Now its just he is playing cus he's hot.

No kidding, not to mention it was straight from Gillis' mouth that Luongo was the one they were looking for deals for and while they'd consider trading anyone, they weren't currently looking at deals for Schneider nor had they had any offers for him.

You still want your trading partners to see him play when he's playing well.

Lets look at it another way, if Cory was on the block we know for sure that we would still need to showcase him and give him easy games to get his confidence going. That didn't happen Lou is the one on the way out.
