The New York Rangers have traded veteran forward Mike Rupp to the Minnesota Wild for forwards Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri. The 33-year-old Rupp has no goals in eight games this season. In 565 career regular season games, he has 53 goals and 41 assists.

We'll be seeing this guy pretty frequently now. Who's going to fight fim?

I guess it adds some depth to the Rangers forward group, but I'm not a fan of the trade from their standpoint.
Rupp is one of the leagues best 4th line energy players, and is a force to be reckoned with physically.

Agreed. I don't like this trade for the Rangers, or us for that matter. Gotta deal with this guy regularly now...

Rupp is the real deal. I'd love him on our 4th line.

Didn't see Rupp being traded at all tbh. He's a huge fourth liner. I guess Halpern will take over 4th line center duties then?

Could be Powe too, but he's pretty much just your run of the mill 4th line center.
Either way, its going to be a downgrade.

Very surprised to see Rupp traded. He is a great energy player and seemed to be good in the locker room.

powe will be on 3rd line with boyle, pretty sure they brought powe in because he's a better skater than rupp & he was 2nd in league with block shots as a forward (91) behind laich (92)

palmieri could go either way I think this was a good trade for both sides. nyr has asham boyle nash and their ahl guy that just got called up for "toughness"

Sure they are. Just skate around their slow guys.

If they already had Konopka, then Rupp is redundant. But whatever. They always treat their home games against us like 'do or die' while we simply don't care. Rupp will make little difference in that regard.

I can see Asham moving to centre.

Surprised to see the rags trade away size and toughness.

Not to concerned about facing Rupp regularly. He's more of a policeman type - doesn't go looking for trouble. He's a solid fourth liner.

I don't think MIN would trade Palmieri, considering he's a good, young puck-handler and skater, capable of playing for 2nd-4th line.

This will be the first year the wild and oilers fight for division lead. Canucks have the weakest offense seen since luongo got here

Aren't the Canucks first in their division, 5-2-2 without 2/3 of their 2nd line?

Or is that just me?

Tied for 4th in the league in points too.

But CDC says we suck this year, so time to trade the Sedins for 1st rounders and start over.

We are actually 9th. This is because we only have 3 ROWs.

With the exception of the Rangers top forwards the team is full of slower forwards. The Rangers definately addressed a need by subtracting a physical, big, servicable forward. In exchange the Rangers get a faster and more dependable depth forward in Powe. The Rangers are already big and this move does make sense.
