So are we to pretend that her serving 30 days somehow benefits society? Makes us safer? Saves us money? What exactly does it accomplish? Why do you feel it's appropriate to up the fine for attitude?

More of the court's time was spent calling her back and "teaching her a lesson" than if the judge didn't care how kids wearing orange jumpsuits are behaving.

This is criminal contempt in the face of the court - the standard penalty is time in jail. It is not dealt with as a crime with sentencing principles and in most jurisdictions it cannot be appealed.

Was it not a $10,000 bond? Do I not understand bonds correctly where this wouldn't be a debt, per se, if she actually showed up to her hearing later on?
