Emery putting on the performance of his life is the only way that Chicago got that game to OT, where they ended up winning in a SO. In complete opposite fashion to us, the Flames are showing signs of strength in defeat, whereas we're (IMO) showing signs of weakness in victory. Kipper has a season or 2 left in him so we do need a younger goalie and he could be it. Yeah I thought we came out unprepared as we usually do (Thanks AV), but as the game went along we carried the play, EDM's 2nd goal came against the flow of play. 5 on 5 we were clearly the better team and we outplayed Edmonton in the 3rd and Overtime. elvis15 Posted February 6, 2013 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Mind you, they are without the best, if not, the 2nd best defenceman the NHL has ever seen, in Nicklas Lidstrom, and they lost Brian Rafalski a year before that. 2 of the NHL's top 50 defensemen of all time gone. Along with the best net presence in Tomas Holmsrom. Just like that. You tell me how a team recovers like that and still somehow manages to be at .500 level. In five years, Detroit will be a middle of the pack, rebuild team. Datsyuk and Zetterberg will be gone/old. Kronwall will be in his mid 30s. Same with Franzen. They should've got those 2 points, but Chicago happened to luckily get a very late goal to send it to OT (kinda like Bieksa against Edmonton), where they won (kinda like Vancouver against Edmonton). I did predict that the Canucks would miss the playoffs, but I did not predict that Calgary "would" win the division. And I wouldn't be too cocky, if I were you. higgyfan Posted February 6, 2013 Share Posted February 6, 2013 My dad was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan back in the 70's. He used to get frustrated with them because they would 'only play well in the 3rd' on many nights. Time and again, they would get some lucky bounce, a flukey goal or just suddenly show up for a few minutes and then win the game. The Habs won 6 SC in that decade.
