That line-up is STUDLY!

I'd like to see Volpatti rotate in and out though, he looks like a great 4th line energy player.

Definitely Volpatti over Malhotra..

lines:

Sedin Sedin Kassian/Burr
Booth Kesler Burr/Kassian
Raymond Schroeder Higgins
Volpatti LaPierre Hansen

Spare:

pinnizotto Manny/Ebbett Weise

They're not gonna send Schroeder down over Ebbett. That wouldn't do him any good. He's finally showing he can play at this level.

We need a third line center that can create some offense. Lappy can't do that on a consistent enough basis.

Plus Schroeder actually adds something to our 2nd unit PP. Once Booth is back in, we'll actually have a finisher on that unit.

Personally I'd get rid of Ebbett since he's slightly redundant. But more then likely Schroeder simply from an asset management point

I agree with you but last year they wanted a grinding third line, so you never know what AV will do.

Yea, and that matchup game that Av tries to play hasn't worked very well for us.

Let the other team react to what we're throwing out there, not the other way around.

The goal should be to have 4 lines that can score and play well defensively. That means an element of skill and toughness on every line. So as long as Schroeder has some size and grit on his wing, it shouldn't be a problem.

Watch it be Schroeder because he doesn't have to clear waivers. Heaven forbid we lose an asset like Andrew Ebbett, right Gillis?

In all honesty, though, if it actually is Ebbett that gets sent down, I do hope he clears because he'd be a big addition to the Wolves.

As Dasein keeps stating,it depends on if a player would be lost on waivers and if the big club does not want to take that risk.

'Fans' of this team here dump on Ebbett but the guy has done all that Schroeder has, save score a shoot out goal,an unmolested shot on net that barely trickled past the goal line.It was the stuff of Canuck legend.

Ebbett created the Volpatti goal and is 45% in the circle.Schroeder is 38%.Ebbett has a solid defensive game and can play all three forward positions.

Schroeder is part of the team going forward, the question is will he be developed faster and better playing third line minutes here or first line minutes in the A?

A healthy Kes means Manny and Lappy are box sitters. Why put a young guy there that obviously needs to get bigger, stronger and better?

Schroeder is not strong enough in the circle and is not a defensive player.Kes can eat the 2c PP time.

Ebbett out without question to make room for Kesler. I heard Pinizzotto is close to playing again, like two weeks or so. I'd love to see him in the line up instead of Weise or Volpatti.

I think ebbett gets waived when Kesler returns, and then when Booth returns management and coaching staff will truly judge Schroeder's play on the ice and determine if him staying up is worth losing Volpatti/Barker

I'd like them to consider keeping the guys who are likely going to be with the team going forward from this season on. Schroeder or Ebbett are the choices of who goes down. Schroeder can't be touched and there would likely be little interest in Ebbett (although he was fairly good for the Canucks a few games last season). Anyone else amongst the forwards would likely be scooped up.

Assuming that the team will actually play either Schroeder or Ebbett, then Schroeder is likely the guy who will stay, provided that the team doesn't need the cap space from his contract (every extra $425,000 counts).

regards,
G.

I think it's an easy choice that the Canucks would risk Barker over losing Volpatti. Or, the assumed Luongo trade will have happened and maybe some extra roster spots will have opened up. :)

I agree, I only listed Volpatti knowing that AV likes to have 8D on the roster.

If management is making decisions based on the fear of losing a player like Ebbett, we're in trouble.

He's a solid depth guy, but brings nothing that we couldn't acquire in a trade with a late pick.

Manny should not hold a spot over Weise. Not if they continue playing as they are, expect Weise to get better too.

I really don't expect Weise to get any better. I expect Malhotra to get better, and thats why i feel that he should be on the fourth line. Everyone agrees that both need to improve this season, both being a -2 so far. Weise may bring more toughness over Malhotra obviously but with the way things are going, I don't see Canucks getting pushed around. Notice Sedins throwing hits around when Kassian is with them. Canucks are only lacking face-off percentage so taking out the best face-off man (Malhotra) for a mediocre at best 4th liner (Weise) isn't a good move.

As for my lines:

D.Sedin H.Sedin Burrows
Higgins Kesler Kassian
Raymond Schroeder Hansen
Volpatti Malhotra Lapierre

I could see Edmonton picking up Ebbett now that they are down to one centre.

Which I wouldn't give two turds about.

Until Ebbett scores on us in overtime.

That's actually not bad if we can get a draft pick for him. The problem with Ebbett is that although he is a serviceable depth press box player, we are in trouble if he has to be in our lineup. He's there as center depth, but we need to get another center before the trade deadline as insurance anyways, so we should rid of him.
