Ebbett goes down.

And our line-up:

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Booth - Kesler - Burrows
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Higgins - Malhotra - Lapierre

This is the best choice lineup wise and such. Volpatti in reserve for physical teams maybe swapping in and out with higgins or maholtra

OP: Not sure whether I voted on who I'd send down or who MG will send down?

I'd send Ebbett packing, he's been given tonnes of opportunity in Van and just hasn't made the best of it.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure they'll send down the kid

Ebbett. He has no place on this team whatsoever. He should be in the AHL.

Unfortunately for Ebbett he played himself out of a roster spot early in the season.

If he gets sent down and makes it (likely) there's no re-entry waivers, so that's great. If he does get claimed, it really should not be hard to replace him.

On the W either Sweatt or Gordon can replace him, and if there's an injury at center Burrows is proving he can hold the fort..

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Higgins - Kesler - Burrows
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Malhotra - Lapierre - Weise
Volpatti

Done. When Booth AND Kesler are both back, it will depend on the situation then.

This thread is not about Booth & Kesler coming back, just Kesler.. because Tomlinson said some silly thing.

Doesn't make sense to have Ebbett on the roster, when you have a developing, and improving Schroeder.

When Kes returns, Schroeder's going to be moved to the third line center position. Raymond, and Hansen may join him there on that third line, cause I don't see Hansen playing fourth line minutes. He's too useful to be placed there.

The lines when Kes gets back:

Sedin - Sedin - Burr
Higgins - Kesler - Kassian
Hansen - Schroeder - Raymond
Malhotra - Lappy - Weise

That's a pretty solid line up, I'd say.

Obviously Malhotra would slot in against less physical opposition. The reason I like Weise in that spot is it gives us a good energy line as the 4th line.

I'm going to copy and paste what I said over on the 4th line discussion board:

Malhotra, despite not being as good as before, is important. He is amongst the best in the nhl in faceoffs winning 66.7% (4th of those who've taken more than 20). That cannot be underestimated, he takes 90% defensive draws so our goaltenders know they can freeze the puck and have a good chance of us getting the puck and clearing the zone. A very big part of out PK IMO.

Edit: stats on the NHL were wrong

Malhotra centring 2 of Higgins/Weise/Volpatti/Pinizzotto

I think that without either Volpatti or Wiese on the 4th, we may lack quite a bit of toughness. From what I've seen so far this year we've had a good equal ratio between lines of their jobs.

I wouldn't have thought a Higgins - Manny - Lappy line, would have a much grit to it in comparison to our current 4th line.. Just an opinion though. I know Higgins hasn't played that great since the start of the season (or is it just me?) but I don't see him as 4th liner doing much good to get him out of his rut.

Also, putting Kas down on the second line is going to prove a couple of things: Is he is as good as he has been by his own work, or if it is the twins making him better? I personally think it is his own doing. Though being shunted down to the 2nd line may make him look less skillful if he's with less quality players that can help create chances or trying to merge with a different tactic on the 2nd line. It'll be nice to see Burrows back with the twins IF this is the case, I still think that that's the best combination, but I do love the grit Kas adds to the top-line. There are just many many variations that this team can use at the moment..

I agree it will probably be Ebbet and I am ok with that but Volpatti has been taking one unnecessary penalty per game for at least the last three games.

I worry that he will be demoted if he doesn't stop this.

We need his hitting and toughness and if he has to clear waivers we may well lose him.

Maybe AV will just sit him if the problem continues and hope he learns from that.

In Volpatti's defense, some of his penalties have been pretty soft calls.

Ebbett is the obvious choice. He's been completely useless in the games he has played

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian

Booth-Kesler-Burrows

Raymond/Higgins-Schroeder-Hansen

Higgins/Raymond-Lapierre-Malhotra

Malhotra/Weise

Or something like that.

With either Higgins or Raymond being bumped down to the 4th line eventually....I kind of get the feel that there could be a possible Raymond trade on the horizon. They aren't 4th liners.

I was just wondering where you fit Kassian into your line-up. Stick to watching the games and let Coach V decide.

I'd send Ebbett down for sure.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Booth - Kesler - Burrows
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Higgins - Lapierre - Malhotra
Weise, Volpatti

Hamhuis - Edler
Garrison - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev
Alberts, Barker

Luongo
Schneider

Looks solid to me, at least until next season when the cap goes down. :)

coming back from shoulder and wrist surgery, i would send a winger down and give kess a few games on the wing (he is a BEAST winger fyi) till he is 100% ready for full time draws. Let him work his way up through the line up paitently

Who cares; he has to earn a contract for next year, make him work! And funny enough; that's the role he was traded here for!

And check your thinking, has he outplayed Danny, Raymond or Burrows? Not this year, and he's not as fast as Raymond, nor as big as Booth who can each put up similar numbers. And when he does score it's usually only with top players. That means he is not who drives the offence. Add it up and he's a depth guy who can play top 6 when asked. But if Higgins is on our 4th line, we're also in a very good place!

Look, he has a great motor. Even if he's "4th" line, AV trusts him and pops him over the boards every time someone is puff'd after a PK, or Raymond is being mis-matched. He'll still get way more minutes than the average 4th line guy!

As to the OP's question > Ebbett!

I don't think Higgins would be okay playing on the fourth line.

Schroeder will go down.

Ebbett is the ideal 13th forward that sits in the box. When Kesler returns, if Schroeder doesn't have a roster spot, then he'll sit in the box - management will want Schroeder to play as many minutes as possible, so he'll be sent down.

If Schroeder does earn a roster spot as a 3rd line center, and we put Weise/Volpatti in the press box, then Ebbett will be the one to go.

Nice to see someone with some sense post here

I agree.......Manny has lost a lot, but he hasn't lost his prowess in the face of dot, and that's key for a successful run. I'm starting to wonder if Lappy might not be included in Luongo trade talks? His play hasn't been great this year, but he's playing out of position and he's built up some cred over the last cpl years with solid play. I like Lappy, but I'm really liking what Schroeder is bringing to the dance

Ebbett I guess. It's possible he may get picked up. He's till a somewhat decent 13th forward in my view

Seeing as how it's turned into a line up thread, mine is as follows:

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Higgins - Kesler - Burrows
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Volpatti - Lapierre - Weise

I would maybe even consider having Hansen on the 2nd line and push Burrows back. Hansen has been a machine, and Burrows seems to play with more edge and urgency when he falls back a couple of lines.

Then someone ought to remind him he shouldn't play like a fourth liner.

I liked him a lot last year, but ineffective is too kind a word to describe his play right now.

Ebbetts gone and Schroeder plays between Kesler and Burrows. I'm looking forward to see Pinizzotto make it back and bring some extra energy to the 4th line
