grandmaster
It would be most excellent if we can get this everlasting commodity to continue; Linden (after his prime years) for Bertuzzi (greatest power forward we ever had) & McCabe McCabe for a Sedin (future hall of famer) Bertuzzi for Luongo (greatest goalie we ever had) Luongo for ???? Has any player from the 80's like Linden continue such a legacy for present day teams? I thought it would be cool to point out his seemingly everlasting legacy. Im not a huge Linden fan but I am most impressed by his continued stamp on our team!

apollo
Luongo for nothing. He carried us on his back and took us to game seven of the finals. W.o him we would have got swept vs the bruins or let alone not even made it past Chi town. Luongo has done more for this team performance wise. Luongo must stay. UMB
Yep. There's a link between that trade and I believe Lucic, Horton, Campbell and Marchand.
grandmaster
Care to share how? So far I've only found the link between the Neely trade and Lucic
grandmaster
So what you're saying is our franchise has been built on trades since dealing Neely, subsequently tanking, drafting Linden and then dealing Linden?

TheFleetwoodMack
I'm just as curious. Also, how did the Lucic acquisition take fold out of that Neely trade?
etsen3
As much as it sucks that Linden left Vancouver, that trade really helped our team. If it wasn't for him we would never have got Bertuzzi, and we got Linden back in the end so it turned out well in the long run.
Pride
u must not remember luongo losing his job vs the blackhawks due to his horrible play and only got the net back beacause schnieder got a bad cramping problem. every game we beat boston the whole team outplayed boston on every inch of the ice and thomas kept his team in those games .. what happend when boston out played us? oh yeah luongo got lit up and gave us no chance to win as the games were over befor the first period was over. way to hold us in .. he sure looked great vs those preds who were next to last in scoring in the league (slow clap) or how about when his save % and GAA (goalie stats) are outside of the top 10 when hes playing for the best team in the league yeah it had nothing to do with us having the best lines in the league or a good defence it was all luongo take the blinders off theres a reason we are going to be moving him. oh yeah remember when we had game 7 wrapped up vs the balckhawks and he let in a stinker of a shorthanded goal to toews ... well played. quick did more for his team last year then luongo ever has in his career. Vancouver's comeback
chrisbanks presents some valid opinions. While I may not necessarily agree with them, everyone that responded to him could actually refute what he's saying, rather than replying with absolutely zero substance. grandmaster
Boston also got vancouver's 1st round in 1987, drafted glen Wesley, traded Wesley to hartford for a pick used to draft Sergei samsonov, traded samsonov to Edmonton for a 2nd round pick used to draft Milan Lucic
