Do the Vancouver Canucks make at least a couple trades at the trade deadline?

Does Lu or Schneider get traded....Ballard?Booth?

Maybe More teams will want one of our goalies at the trade deadline, for the playoffs.

Make your proposal's.

I don't think the Canucks will do anything at the deadline.

They might add some depth but that's about it.

^ Agreed, most likely a filler just in case of injury

If anything, at the deadline I could see MG do what he has done in the past and pick up a rental player or two in exchange for picks.

So, looking at upcoming UFAs and eliminating anyone on a team in the playoff picture, there are a couple of possibilities...

Mike Ribiero from Washington. 32 yrs old, depth at center which we could use. The Caps may have dug themselves a hole too deep to get out of already. Ribiero has only been there a year so it's not like he would have a huge attachment to the place. 18G and 45A for Dallas last year.

Matthew Lombardi from Phoenix. Also a center, but younger than Ribiero. Phoenix is on the bubble right now, but may still be sellers given their financial situation. Lombardi had a tough year in Toronto last year, but who didn't? 53 points the year before playing for Phoenix.

Chuck Kobasew from Colorado. Plays RW, 30 yrs old. Not a huge points guy but could be brought in for depth. He's a BC kid which MG seems to like. I used to watch him play for the Rockets when I lived in Kelowna. Cheap salary, could probably be available for a late draft pick.

If you think this current team even with Kesler and Booth has enough offense to win it all youre dreamin'.

check the scoring for the last 12 playoff games we've had. Nuff said.

A Toast to Aquillini for getting Torterella.

An owner who knows what the people want.

That's entertainment.

you may be right but gretzky is retired....gillis will do his best to put the best team he can on the ice...if that's not good enough, we'll be in those 29 teams that lose out....we can make all the suggestions we want but the truth is, we don't know jack.

acquiring scoring depth is a for sure need for us, because we do lack depth in that department come playoffs.

not sure what it would cost but i do like wolski from washington

If the goalie trade doesn't happen our 4th needs major upgrades, Weise and Volpatti are terribad, I always feel bad for whoever gets stuck playing with them. Sure they're good guys and they hit, but they are where every play goes to die.

Nice, because having a great GM is such a terrible thing, lets fire the best GM we've ever had, right?

I am curious as to what it would take to pry O'Reilly out of Colorado.

My guess is Gillis will try to acquire a player or 2 for the bottom 6 that can provide toughness and muck in a few dirty goals

Just thinking off the top of my head of a bit of a wish list if realistical players I would like to see GMMG go for. I think the Canucks are set in alot of areas, but I think we are still "just that one guy" that gives us a kick or a boost. Versitile, can play wing and also win face-offs and play a sandpaper game, pot a bunch of timely goals. Just a few names
Brandon Dubinski
Ryan O'Neill
Derek Dorsett

Morrow would be on that list but his injuriea/durability and the fact he is ufa at years end makes me leary. The above 3 are on half decent contracts and on failing teams.

Thoughts? Anyone else

Who are Brandon Dubinski and Ryan O'Neill?

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Someone like Max Talbot (if Philly tanks) would be someone I'd like the team to target. In general, I'd love for them to get another big, energetic depth center who can also chip in with the occasional goal (I'd say get Mike Rupp from the Wild for cheap (hopefully) after they bow out this year).

2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

I don't think our team needs much. The only thing I see the team doing is dumping Booth for a rental, but that is only if he plays really bad... REALLY bad, which I doubt.

Our roster is pretty full when healthy

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Booth
Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen/Kassian
Malhotra-Lapierre-Kassian/Hansen
Volpatti or Weise

Hamhuis-Edler
Garrison-Bieksa
Ballard-Tanev
Alberts
Barker (I'm guessing he'll be sent down)

Schneider
Luongo

Hansen/Booth/Kassian/Burrows will be all over the place, they can all play on all four lines.

More defensive depth would be nice...I know we have Barker and Vandemeer but I don't trust them especially Barker plus depth never hurts I'd move late picks for a depth D man. As for what I predict I think we stand pat for the most part maybe move some mid level prospects for a veteran winger that has playoff experience

they need a centre for depth. If schroeder cant hack it in the playoffs, we sure dont want ebbett there and lappy needs to anchor the 4th line.
